PREPS: Boys hoops rankings – Week 5

As the top boys basketball teams in the state make their playoff pushes, teams from the metro area continue to dominate in the AJC’s weekly polls, especially in the larger classifications. Every No. 1 ranked team (with the exception of Class A) is inside or within shouting distance of I-285.

Milton remains in Class 5A’s top spot after beating No. 3 Wheeler 77-59 on Saturday night. With the emergence of Walton to the ninth spot, every Class 5A team is from metro Atlanta.

Seven ranked teams in Class 4A are locals. Miller Grove has only one loss this season, to Florida’s Dr. Krop, and remains No. 1.

Columbia lost, but was still able keep the top spot in Class 3A. Their loss came against highly regarded (but unranked) Tucker from Class 4A, 62-54. Read more >

SCORE 44: Our list of the top 44 prep football prospects in the state and the metro area!

Anyone can put together a list of the best 10 or six or 11 football players in state, but how thorough would that list really be? Score Atlanta decided to comprise a list at least four times better than any other list in the state for the 2010 football season. Our list won’t have simply 11 players. Oh no. Score Atlanta is proud to present the Score 44, aka the 44 best senior players in the state of Georgia. Score Atlanta loves high school football and wants to give back to the athletes that provide such joy for 16 weeks a year.

The list was partially unveiled on last week’s “Official Visit” show on 790 the Zone. Tonight, 11 more will be recognized on the show.
