Last night, the Peachtree Ridge girls tennis squad dismissed Berkmar 3-0 in the first round of the state tournament. Next up for the Lions is the winner of Woodstock and Milton, although the Ridge will be heavily favored to advance no matter which team advances.
Coach Chrissie Bolt has seen her team advance deep into the playoffs after undefeated regular seasons and region titles the past two years, only to have its season ended by Walton in the state tournament. After moving from Chattahoochee following the 2003 season, Bolt has built a perennial power at the Gwinnett school.
A tennis player for most of her life, Bolt played at Presbyterian College where she was a member of the Blue Hose tennis team. Read more >

Peachtree Ridge athletics director Bill Holleman announced his impending retirement Wednesday. His resignation will take effect June 1. Holleman has been the only AD since the school opened in 2003 and was also the Lions’ soccer coach for seven seasons. Currently, Holleman is the girls soccer head coach. Read more >

Rivalry games tend to bring out the best in sports.
And tonight’s Region 7-5A semifinal between Gwinnett County neighbors North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge was no exception. After nine lead changes and a blur of late fouls in a game webcasted on GPB.org, the No. 2 Lions defeated the No. 7 Bulldogs 57-53 at Mill Creek. Read more >
