SCORE 44: Our list of the top 44 prep football prospects in the state and the metro area!

Anyone can put together a list of the best 10 or six or 11 football players in state, but how thorough would that list really be? Score Atlanta decided to comprise a list at least four times better than any other list in the state for the 2010 football season. Our list won’t have simply 11 players. Oh no. Score Atlanta is proud to present the Score 44, aka the 44 best senior players in the state of Georgia. Score Atlanta loves high school football and wants to give back to the athletes that provide such joy for 16 weeks a year.

The list was partially unveiled on last week’s “Official Visit” show on 790 the Zone. Tonight, 11 more will be recognized on the show.

Fulton Beat, April 23-29: Milton baseball continues to surprise; Alpharetta undefeated in boys tennis

The 2010 Milton Eagles baseball team has surprised everyone this year. After a dismal 2009 season when they went, 7-18 and lost nine of their last 10, not much was expected out of them. This week they are ranked No. 2 in the Class 5A coaches poll (gasports.com). They had been ranked No. 8 for the majority of the season.
In four games last week, the Eagles outscored their opponents, 42-12. They beat three region opponents, Walton, Alpharetta and Campbell to solidify their lead in Region 6, Class 5A. In the only other scheduled game last week, they defeated Fayette County, 17-5. Read more >

Fulton Beat: April 16-22

Milton had a tough task at hand when they faced Roswell ace Andrew Smith last week. When the Eagles entered the fifth inning, they trailed 4-0 and it didn’t look like they were going to score, having stranded four runners in the previous four innings. However, in that inning, the team was able to put together base runners with a walk, a HBP, and a fielder’s choice and scored their first run. After the Eagles score their second run the bases were loaded and Scott Slappey hit a single to make it 4-4. When all was said and done, 11 players had come to bat and seven runs were scored in the inning to give Milton a 7-4 lead. Read more >

FULTON BEAT: Milton, No. 1 Hornets continue to roll on diamond

Roswell started this season as the team to beat and so far they have shown that they can live up to expectations. The Hornets have won their first nine games and owe much of that success to their all-state senior pitcher Andrew Smith. Coming into the year, many scouts predicted that he will be drafted in the June MLB draft. Read more >
