Every year the Stephenson Jaguars send double-digit players to the next level on football scholarships and on National Signing Day 2012, it will be no different. Running back Mike Davis has already pledged to the Florida Gators and he has four players on the defensive side of the ball that could join him in Gainesville, including perhaps the best defensive end in the state Jarontay Jones. PREPS: Girls hoops rankings – Week 5

If local fans of girls prep basketball were hungry last week, surely they enjoyed a few sweet pieces of upside-down cake. In just one week, three local girls teams fell from the top spot in the AJC’s rankings.

In Class 5A, Hillgrove tumbled to 10th after losing three times to other ranked Cobb County rivals: Campbell, McEachern, and North Cobb. Read more >

PREPS: Parkview-Stephenson battle wins Comcast contest

Comcast challenged metro Atlanta high schools featured on episodes of “GHSA On Demand” to rally their community to watch their team’s episode. To make this contest a touchdown, the two schools featured in the episode would share a $1000 prize. The teams that scored the highest viewership this season were the Parkview Panthers and the Stephenson Jaguars. Read more >

SCORE 44 HOOPS: Second Edition

It’s time for the second edition of the basketball Score 44! In our list of the top 22 boys and girls players in the state, we take into account which senior hoopsters are the best in the state of Georgia. In this week’s edition, Saah Nimley of Collins Hill replaced Tyrone Brown of Jenkins County while, in the girls’ list, Danielle Gazaway of Warner Robins took the spot of Sydney Wallace of Northview.

Highly ranked boys squads like Milton, Miller Grove, Walton, Norcross and Wheeler each had players ranked in the list as did girls squads like Wesleyan, Redan, Whitefield Academy and Marist. Also, unranked squads like the Greenville and Hillgrove boys as well as girls teams from Parkview, Walton, Berkmar, Chattahoochee and Whitefield Academy had players that made the list.
