With the 2028 class heading into its sophomore season, the recruiting process is already in full swing for last year’s freshmen. Most people don’t yet know these future superstars, so over the coming weeks, we’ll introduce the list of 100 names to know. This is the fourth part of this series. The link to the last three articles in the series is at the bottom of the article.
Jamonie Edwards Lithonia 6-4, 300
Lithonia has become known for producing explosive athletes who go on to play major college football, and defensive lineman Jamonie Edwards is next in line. Edwards already has the size expected of a Power Four defensive lineman. He shows good mobility for his size and is more than just a space-eater. However, he still needs to improve his pass rush skills, as he currently relies almost exclusively on his powerful bull rush.
Dawson Jacobs Blessed Trinity 6-3, 240
The younger brother of 2027 5-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs, Dawson Jacobs won’t be living in his brother’s shadow for long. He’s one of the highest-upside players in the class of 2028. Jacobs is a quick and powerful defender who projects as more of a traditional defensive lineman than his brother. He has extremely strong hands and is capable of moving most blockers. He still needs to put on more weight, but that will come with time.
Chase Foster II Dutchtown 6-4, 265
Chase Foster is a very developed defensive lineman for his age, already possessing the size and skills to be a high-end high school and college football player. At 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, he has ideal size for a defensive end but could add more weight and shift to an interior role. He already uses multiple pass rush moves effectively. Overall, he’s one of the best DL prospects in the state and a name to watch closely moving forward.
Christian Williams North Cobb 6-1, 285
Christian Williams is another player expected to take a big step forward in the 2025 season. He will be a major piece for a North Cobb team with state championship aspirations. Williams played mainly a nose guard role last season and was highly productive in the run game, eating space and shedding blocks with ease. He also showed flashes as a pass rusher and should see his impact grow this fall.
Kingston Brown Carver-Columbus 6-3, 265
2024 2A state champion Kingston Brown is looking to help Carver-Columbus win a second straight title. Brown is one of the most physically gifted freshman pass rushers I’ve seen. His combination of size, speed, and skill is rare at any age, especially as a freshman. His greatest asset is his speed; he moves like a player 40 pounds lighter while still possessing the strength to hold up against the run. He can improve on consistency from rep to rep, but overall, he’s an elite player in the class.
Fred Moses Hebron 6-3, 265
A long and rangy athlete, Fred Moses has grown significantly since his freshman season, adding between 20 and 40 pounds. He’s expected to transition into more of a defensive tackle role this year. Even at a lighter weight last season, Moses held his own against heavier linemen, showing good leverage and strength in the run game. He still needs to develop more pass rush moves, but expect him to become a 4-star recruit by the end of his high school career.
Bajani Jones Lanier 6-2, 290
Bajani Jones is one of the most intriguing linemen in the class of 2028. From both the nose guard and defensive tackle spots, he shows rare pass-rushing ability for someone his size and age. While not yet a dominant run defender, he’s shown flashes in that area as well. With time and technical refinement, Jones should easily develop into a high-end prospect over the next three seasons.
