The 2025 Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 Tournament is returning to Georgia Tech this month with six days of fierce competition (June 10-12, 17-19) that will include a total of 96 teams. Each day includes a 16-team pool of teams that will use a round robin format to seed the single-elimination tournament. The six-day event is sponsored by GeorgiaConstructionCareers.com, IBEW Local 613, SMART Local 85, the Mechanical Trades Institute, GSMACNA, the Army ROTC and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Since the inaugural Corky Kell 7-on-7 tournament in 2014, both the event and the prominence of 7-on-7 as an offseason activity has grown. Like it has done in each previous year, a round robin format in the morning will be used to seed the single-elimination tournament after the team’s break for lunch each day. The action is also once again open to the public. What makes this year’s lineup unique is the amount of days and by refashioning the format, now six separate champions will be crowned in each of the days.
Growing the event to this size has allowed more teams to get in on the action and this year’s participants include teams from every GHSA classification and several surrounding states. Headlining this year’s teams are reigning state champions Milton (Class 5A), North Oconee (4A), Carver-Columbus (2A) and Rabun Gap (NCISAA I). Additionally, semifinalists Coffee, Blessed Trinity, Creekside and Fellowship Christian will participate with state runner-ups Hughes and Prince Avenue Christian and a total of 70 teams that reached the playoffs this past season.
