Aquinas’ Hill to sign with Virginia Tech

Aquinas High School

In a story last month, former Aquinas star SG Ahmed Hill discusses re-evaluated his signature with Marquette in the wake of former Golden Eagles coach Buzz Williams leaving for Virginia Tech. One of Hill’s other favorite schools, Missouri, recently saw coach Frank Haith leave for Tulsa. So it made sense that Hill visited Virginia Tech this weekend.

According to a tweet today by Scout.com recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, Hill has committed to Virginia Tech upon his visit. Hill had stated he signed with Marquette largely due to his relationship with Williams and assistant coach Issac Chew.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard decided to re-open his recruitment after speaking with new Golden Eagles head coach Steve Wojciechowski. In a letter posted on his twitter account, Hill said he chose Marquette due to his relationship with Williams and Chew but that “I just didn’t feel that same relationship with the new coach.”

Hill had stated he would consider re-opening his recruitment right after Williams left Marquette. Despite getting offers from programs like Indiana, Florida, Kansas, UConn, Georgia and Georgia Tech, many of those programs had filled up their spots in the early signing period.
