Boys lacrosse has seen major commitments this past week, with a couple of players making decisions on where they will spend the next stage of their careers. Notable names include Greater Atlanta Christian midfielder Will Polhill and Harrison LSM Dawson Roper. Here is more on the two standout players and their respective programs.
Greater Atlanta Christian, MF, Will Polhill- The Spartan midfielder committed to Lander University, per Thunder Lacrosse. Thunder Lacrosse is one of the best club teams in the country, constantly producing talent that makes it to the next level. Polhill is another alum who will get the chance to play collegiately.
Polhill plays for one of the best teams in the state in GAC which is the No.7 ranked team in the Division 1 poll and is 12-4 this year. The Spartans were on a six-game winning streak before losing an OT thriller against Lovett 10-9. Polhill has had a decorated career up until this point, starting on varsity as a true freshman, winning Third-Team All-County Defense as a sophomore, and winning First-Team All-County LSM (long-stick midfielder) and All-Area LSM Player of the Year as a junior. He remains a key to success for the Spartans and makes them a contender in Division 1.
Harrison, LSM, Dawson Roper- Roper committed to Lynchburg this past weekend to play for one of the best programs in NCAA Division 3. Lynchburg is a lacrosse program located in Virginia that has had only one losing season in program history. So far, for the 2026 class, they have two guys now with the commitment of Roper. They also landed Cole Grey.
Harrison is 6-8 this season and has a big matchup coming up tonight against Campbell to determine who will be the No. 3 seed out of Division 3 Area 3. The Hoyas are 0-2 in area play this season, but should still make a playoff appearance.
In terms of his career, Roper has accumulated over 400 career faceoff wins. So, for those who are unfamiliar with what a faceoff win is, here is more info from the NCAA.
“A faceoff win is determined by clear possession of the ball, not by the subsequent offensive opportunity. A standard alternative to that definition is to credit and charge the faceoff when one team is declared to have possession of the ball, and wing area players are released. This is not really a viable definition since a team may never have a chance to do anything with the ball.”
Roper notched 300 career faceoff wins earlier this season on March 11, per Harrison Hoyas lacrosse Instagram. One thing he has been known for in his career is helping his team win possession back and putting them in advantageous situations.
