BRAVES BEAT: Atlanta sending five to All-Star game

For the first time since 2003, the Braves have five players on the all-star team. Omar Infante was selected to the squad by NL manager Charlie Manuel in a reserve role.

Meanwhile, rookie Jason Heyward, second baseman Martin Prado, pitcher Tim Hudson and catcher Brian McCann will represent the Braves in the game on July 13.

Heyward will not play due to a thumb injury, but Prado will start after leading vote-getter Chase Utley was ruled out due to injury.

Hudson will make the game for the third time in his career while McCann will attend his fifth game in just five years in the major leagues. Prado, Infante and Heyward were each selected for their first all-star game.

Also, closer Billy Wagner is currently one of five NL Final Vote candidates along with Heath Bell, Carlos Gonzales, Joey Votto and Ryan Zimmerman. The Final Vote will continue until Thursday at 4 p.m. EST.
