BREAKING: 3-star CB Markell Taylor is down to his final four schools

Markell Taylor is down to his final four schools, and the North Paulding standout cornerback will focus on his top schools and will pay an official visit to these programs. His official visit schedule is as follows: Coastal Carolina (May 30th), Georgia Southern (June 6th), East Carolina (June 13th), and Cincinnati (June 20th). Taylor went on a visit to Coastal Carolina this past weekend and detailed his final four.

“With a lot of sleep, consideration, thought, and time, I’ve come down to my top four schools: Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, East Carolina, and Cincinnati,” said Taylor. “The main key factors in my recruitment are feeling wanted and having a good fit for me as far as school and scheme-wise. The love, support, and atmosphere are going to be there already. What stands out to me the most is competitiveness and the energy that goes on at practice, because it all translates to the field.”

Taylor is closing in on a decision and has set his commitment date for June 24th.

“I chose the end of June to commit because I would have taken all my official visits and had the time to talk it over with my family. On top of that, I didn’t want to enter my senior season uncommitted,” said Taylor.

According to 247Sports, Taylor is rated as a 3-star prospect, the No. 50 safety, the No. 69 player in Georgia, and the No. 610 player nationally.

Taylor had quite the spring, seeing his offer list hit the double digits. He received notable offers from Georgia State, Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Kansas State, and more. He stood out in the prestigious MVP Camp hosted by Rusty Mansell and Chad Simmons, being named to the All-Camp team. He also hit a PR (personal record) in March in the 100-meter dash, surpassing sub-11 and running 10.9.

This past season for the Wolfpack, Taylor finished with 51 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five passes defensed, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a blocked field goal. He had one of his best games against Wheeler, finishing with seven tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, a pass defense, and a forced fumble.

Taylor has put in a lot of work to get to this point in his career, from being doubted and unknown to a well-known prospect across the peach state. He’s used that as fuel to continue to grind and make a name for himself. It is paying dividends, all those late nights and hunger to perfect his craft.

“I was being doubted, overlooked, and being told I am a waste of talent made me who I am today. It motivated me to get where I am. Those late-night workout sessions, late-night film study, going to camps, getting all the reps and going against top athletes, and being in love with the weight room got me where I am today,” said Taylor.
