Chamblee’s Bellamy picks UGA

Many members of the Bulldog Nation waited with great anticipation as Davin Bellamy sat down just after 11:40 this morning to decide between Georgia and Tennessee. The former Florida State pledge had thrown the recruiting world a curveball by re-opening his recruiting process after coaching changes at Florida State and Georgia. Rumors circulated that Georgia had the inside track to land the Chamblee defensive end, but then Bellamy noted that he liked Tennessee and even Oregon.

Bellamy told those in the Chamblee media center that he had been dealing one of the toughest decisions in his life.

“For the last couple of days, I was getting a lot of phone calls from coaches,” admitted Bellamy. “I just wanted to go with a gut feeling and my gut feeling told me to stay in town.”

Bellamy then reached for the UGA hat and the room broke into applause. The defensive end will be a fine signing day addition for the Bulldogs, but Bellamy was just one of seven Chamblee student athletes to sign letters of intent Wednesday. Khari Rosier and Kamren Mack will both head to Presbyterian College while Dezmin Reed will attend Georgia Military. Quincy Watford signed with the University of Charleston, James Hanley will attend the Air Force Academy and Desmond Noird also signed to play college football.
