Chick-fil-A Bowl achieves earliest sellout in its history

ATLANTA (Nov. 6, 2013) – There are still four weekends of college football yet to be played, but today, Chick-fil-A Bowl officials announced the earliest sellout in its history, nearly a month before the teams who will play in the game are even known.

There has not been a Chick-fil-A Bowl game ticket available for sale on game day in 18 years, and this year will be no different. The final ACC vs. SEC rivalry game before the Chick-fil-A Bowl joins the College Football Playoffs next year will be its 17th straight sellout – a streak only exceeded by the Rose Bowl.

“There is no better way to end a 22-year era of great ACC-SEC match-ups than with another sold-out game,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president and CEO. “This streak is the result of an incredible local fan base and corporate community whose passion for college football is unmatched.”

The Bowl ticket office sold nearly 36,000 tickets to local and regional buyers. A record 94% of last year’s ticket buyers renewed their purchases for this year’s bowl game. All remaining tickets are contractually allocated to the Bowl’s ACC and SEC teams who will be selected on Dec. 8.

With the sellout of all tickets in the Bowl ticket office, only two ways remain to get your hands on tickets to the game.

Fans looking for ticket and hospitality packages can purchase one of the few remaining VIP Packages through PrimeSport, the Chick-fil-A Bowl’s exclusive ticket package provider. Visit www.Chick-fil-ABowl.com to access the PrimeSport ticket package offers.

As a limited offer for the month of November, KIA, the Bowl’s official vehicle partner, will be offering two free tickets with the purchase of a new KIA at Atlanta-area dealerships. Check local dealerships for more information.

Over the last 16 years of the sellout streak, 1.15 million fans have attended Chick-fil-A Bowl games. In a more recent 10 year period, the Chick-fil-A Bowl ranks fourth in average annual attendance (71,825) among all bowls and has drawn more fans than two current BCS bowls – the Orange and Sugar. In its 45-year history, more than 2.5 million fans have attended Chick-fil-A Bowl games at three different venues in Atlanta.
