Class 4A Blog: Pace Academy Class of 2027 DL Justin Weeks provides recruiting update

It is no secret that Pace Academy Class of 2027 defensive lineman Justin Weeks is rated as one of the top players in the state of Georgia in his recruiting cycle according to 247Sports.com.

Heading into his junior season, Weeks is a mountain of a man as he stands at 6-foot-5, weighing 235 pounds and is rated as a top-20 defensive tackle in the country as well as a 4-star recruit on the recruiting outlet.

On Wednesday, Weeks and his Pace Academy Knights participated at the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 at Georgia Tech where the team showcased its young talent including Weeks as well as Class of 2027 4-star safety Adryan Cole.

Weeks showcased his versatility at the 7-on-7s at Georgia Tech this week as the defensive lineman dropped back into coverage and showed off his ability to cover ground on the defensive side of the ball.

The defensive lineman’s recruiting has begun to ramp up as coaches across the country will be flocking to watch Weeks and the Knights in his final two seasons of high school football.

“Recruitment is going really well and I am taking everything in right now,” said Weeks. “What I am looking for in a school is that they are family-oriented and that they feel like a family when I am away from home as well as them being a great team to compete with.”

There will be no shortage of schools flocking to recruit the junior defensive lineman with plenty of high profile college football programs already making an impression on him.

Weeks listed off that Georgia, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Miami have continued to stand out early on in his recruitment.

The Atlanta-native is a two-year varsity player and has gone 9-12 in the last two seasons playing football at Pace Academy.

The Knights made a huge change to their coaching staff for the 2025 season as they have brought in former NFL linebacker and longtime Atlanta Falcon Sean Weatherspoon to take over head coaching duties of the program after three seasons of Nick Bach leading the program, totaling a 17-15 record.

With Weatherspoon leading the charge and with plenty of young talent surrounding him including Weeks, expect the Knights to make some noise in Class 4A.

“I feel like because he played in the NFL, that really helps everyone on the team, especially the linebackers and outside linebackers because that’s what he played in the NFL,” said Weeks. “He is going to be very helpful to everyone on the team.”

Pace Academy is seeking its first playoff appearance since 2023 and its first trip out of the first round since 2015 when the Knights won the program’s only state championship under head coach Chris Slade.
