Class 4A Blog: Top boys basketball players in Class 4A

After the new GHSA reclassification, Class 4A remains just as competitive as ever. Even with last year’s state runner-ups, Holy Innocents’ and the top-player in the state in the Class of 2025 Caleb Wilson being reclassified to Class 1A-3A Private, there is still plenty of talent within the classification that has been turning some heads.

Whether the talent comes from top teams or from underrated programs, the basketball talent in Class 4A is some of the best in the state as they continue to perform at a high level.

Here are some of the top boy’s basketball players in Class 4A:

Eric Chatfield and Chandler Bing, Pace Academy

The dynamic duo from Pace Academy is one of top scoring duos in the classification as they have played a massive role in the Knights success in 2025. Chatfield and Bing both are in the top-10 in the classification in scoring as Chatfield checks in at No. 7, averaging around 19 points per game, and Bing at No. 8 averaging a little over 18 points per game. Both Pace Academy stars are shooting over 50% from the field and over 75% from the free throw line, scoring in bunches for the Knights. Along with their impressive shooting from the field, the two Knights have been terrific from behind the arc this season with Bing shooting 34% and Chatfield having the second-best three-point shooting percentage and second-most in made three-pointers in the classification, shooting 50% from deep as well as making 50 threes thus far through the season. Chatfield is a Georgia Tech-commit and has been since November of 2024. Rated as a 3-star on 247Sports.com, and holds offers from Richmond, Georgia State and Kennesaw State before ultimately committing to the Yellow Jackets. Bing holds an offer from Georgia State, but has yet to commit.

Owen Ritger, Marist School

A 3-star power forward from Marist that can stretch the floor and create problems for teams in the paint, Ritger’s huge frame has been a force against opposing teams this season. The senior stands at 6-foot-8 and averages just over 16 points per game in his final season of high school basketball. The junior currently holds 15 offers from schools such as Bucknell, Chattanooga, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Wofford and a handful more before committing to Furman in September of 2024. Along with his impressive skill-set on the offensive end, Ritger cleans the glass averaging just under six rebounds per game and adding a block a game to his totals. The senior forward has compiled the seventh-most double-doubles in Class 4A with three on the season.

Chace North, Central-Carrollton

One of the more underrated players in the classification that deserves some attention is Central-Carrollton’s Chace North. North, a senior combo-guard, has shown much improvement from a year ago as he has helped lead the Lions to a 15-3 record in 2025 and undefeated in Region 3-4A play. Last season, North averaged just 11 points per game and now fast-forward to his junior season, he is leading the Lions in scoring, averaging over 18 points per game to go along with his 47% shooting from the field, the ninth-highest mark in the classification. North stands at 6-foot-3 providing size at one of the most important positions on the court, adding just over five rebounds a game as well.

Caleb Jones, Benedictine

The leading scorer in Class 4A and the entire Georgia High School Association so far this season, Jones has been on fire throughout the 2025 season. Through 18 games played this season, Jones has totaled 556 total points, averaging over 30 points per game as well as shooting a staggering 61% from the field. While he’s shooting very well from all over the floor, his three-point percentage at 48%, shows off his capabilities from behind-the-arc. The senior has totaled 50 made threes on the season, tied for second-most in the classification, and is shooting over 75% from the foul line. To go along with his high-scoring average, the senior produces in more ways than just scoring the basketball by averaging close to seven rebounds and four assists per game, filling up the stat sheet.
