The Lambert girls celebrated what was a nerve-wracking marathon victory in penalty kicks over Mill Creek on Monday to advance to the semifinals. After a scoreless 80 minutes of regulation and 20 more minutes of overtime, the teams went into three rounds of PK’s to determine the winner. In the first round of five attempts, the teams finished tied 4-4 and then both teams went a perfect 5-5 in the second round of kicks. It wasn’t until the third round of PK’s that Lambert was able to score the 10-9 victory and the Longhorns connected on eight-straight attempts to earn the win. Now, Lambert—the No. 2 seed out of Region 6 will advance to take on Walton after the Raiders defeated Harrison 1-0 on Monday.
On the other side of the Class 6A bracket, West Forsyth awaits a road trip to Buford in a battle of No. 1 seeds. West Forsyth has outscored its three playoff opponents by a combined 16-2 in goals scored, while Buford has piled on a 19-1 scoring advantage.
The boys semifinals will be set after the conclusion of Tuesday’s four star-powered matchups. On the left side of the bracket, Grayson will host Dacula in a Gwinnett County showdown and Mill Creek will travel to Pebblebrook on the bottom left quadrant with a ticket to the semifinals on the line. The right side of the bracket features Discovery at Campbell and Duluth at Collins Hill. Discovery is a No. 4 seed out of Region 8, which has all four of its teams remaining with No. 1 seed Collins Hill, No. 2 seed Dacula, No. 3 seed Grayson and the Titans as the No. 4 seed. The storyline will be whether or not Region 8 can sweep its way into the semifinals.

On the bottom of the left side, No. 1 ranked Etowah will host Parkview in a battle of championship contenders. On the right side of the bracket, Walton is coming off a 14-8, 3-2 sweep of top-seeded East Coweta and will travel to Harrison for another road test.
