The Walton Raiders closed out the Spring season and the incredible 2024-25 GHSA school year with a sweep over Lowndes in the baseball state finals. This victory propelled Walton to the ultimate prize for an athletic department as the 100 points garnered in baseball gave the Raiders the GADA Director’s Cup Triple Crown. Walton’s 1296 total points eclipsed runner-up West Forsyth’s 1229 and the Walton girls (694) and boys (602) also finished at the top of the standings. The Raiders accomplished this feat with a runner-up finish in competition cheer for 90 points, a fourth place finish in girls cross country for another 80 points, runner-up finishes in both boys and girls tennis and more recently their state championship victories in baseball and girls soccer.
Dynasties were also continued this season in Class 6A with the Lambert girls golf team winning a sixth-straight title. Lambert also won its third-straight boys tennis state title and the Lambert Lacrosse team captured its seventh all-time state title. In wrestling, Camden County swept the Traditional and Duals championships for the 11th-straight season. In the spring, the Buford boys won their first track and field state title since 1982. In basketball, the Grayson girls and Wheeler boys won the 6A titles this year and Brookwood swept swimming and dive titles.
