Class A Div. II is set to conclude all of its region tournaments by Saturday and there will be four Regions with championships on Friday (Region 1, 3, 5 and 8), three regions that will conclude on Saturday (Region 2, 4 and 7) and Region 6 already finished on Thursday. Class A Div. II does not use the Post Season Ratings to determine playoff seeding and so the seeds have already been set out of Region 6. On the girls side, Macon County defeated Taylor County 57-54 for the No. 1 seed and Marion County edged Schley County 40-39 to earn the No. 3 seed. The No. 1 seed on the boys side was clinched by Taylor County—which defeated Chattahoochee County 65-63. Macon County earned the No. 3 seed with an 80-61 win over Central-Talbotton.
Around the Class Boys: Randolph-Clay will take on Calhoun County in the Region 1 championship Friday night, while Early County and Mitchell County meet in the consolation game. All four of these teams have secured spots in the playoffs and Region 1 will meet up with Region 5 in the first round. Region 4 has seen Montgomery County reach the championship round and it will face the winner of Friday’s matchup between Wilcox County and Hawkinsville. Wheeler County will take on the loser of Wilcox County and Hawkinsville in the consolation game. Region 4 will take on Region 3 in the first round and the other pairings are Region 8 vs. Region 2 and Region 6 vs. Region 7.
Around the Class Girls: Macon County was the first team to clinch a No. 1 seed with its 57-54 victory against Taylor County in the Region 6 tournament. Macon County awaits the loser of Saturday’s consolation game between Atlanta Classical and Manchester in the Region 7 consolation game.
