Dalton 45, Sprayberry 16

How the game was won: JP Tighe orchestrated the Dalton offense to a 4-0 start in a battle of unbeatens. After the score was tied 7-7, the Catamounts raced past the Yellow Jackets.

Top Performers: JP Tighe accounted for four touchdowns. Tighe tossed touchdowns of 35 and 39 yards to Zeke Cobb and hit Kyric McGowan for a 13-yard score. Tighe ran in a 1-yard keeper as well. Ivan Mora booted a 32-yard field goal and Keith Adams added a 3-yard rushing touchdown to cap the Catamount attack.

Harrison 55, River Ridge 14

How the game was won: Harrison led 28-0 in the first quarter and 41-14 at halftime over host River Ridge behind five rushing scores and a punt-return touchdown.

Top performers: Harrison fullback Cameron Messina scored two rushing touchdowns in the first half, as did running back Darius Clark. Hoyas quarterback Justin Fields opened scoring with a 60-yard fun in the first quarter and threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Steven Peterson. Davis Kidd capped scoring for Harrison with a 30-yard touchdown run. Peterson’s 46-yard punt return made it 21-0 in the first quarter.

Kell 35, Paulding County 7 

How the game was won: Kell got four touchdowns from Josiah Futral and held a 28-0 lead before host Paulding County got on the board with a third-quarter TD.

Top performers: Futral opened scoring with a four-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and had scoring rushes of three and 65 yards in the third quarter. Futral also caught a 21-yard TD pass from Longhorns quarterback John Lampley, who scored the game’s last touchdown on a 20-yard rush in the third. Jared Hill had an interception for Kell.

Allatoona 52, South Cobb 12

How the game was won: Allatoona led 23-0 after one quarter and 36-0 at halftime en route to scoring the game’s first 43 points in a convincing win over visiting South Cobb. The Eagles finally got on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter and they added another touchdown early in the fourth, but their relatively meaningless string of 12 unanswered points soon came to an end. The Buccaneers’ stout defense effort included four forced turnovers–two interceptions and two fumbles.Top performers: Allatoona quarterback Tate Tatum completed four of five passes for 80 yards and he tossed scoring strikes to Jacob Perry and Grant Hughes. The Buccaneers’ ground attack was even more impressive, as Charles Anderson scored three times and Adrian Boyd added one touchdown. Boyd finished the night with 77 yards on just seven carries to contribute to his team’s 293 total rushing yards. Malik Breeden had an interception for Allatoona and Harrison Kemp recovered a fumble.
