Westminster 45, Redan 13

How the game was won: Westminster scored the first 38 points of the game to overwhelm host Redan early and often. The Wildcats led 14-0 after one quarter, 31-0 at halftime and 38-7 heading into the fourth before the Raiders finally got on the scoreboard. Zay Malcolme scored three touchdowns in a span of 12:25, culminating with a 20-yard pass reception that put Westminster ahead 31-0 just 10 seconds prior to halftime.

Top performers: A dominant ground game for the Wildcats saw Malcolme score on runs of 24 yards and four yards in the first half. Ian Ude got the scoring started with a 24-yard trek to the endzone and he added a 21-yarder in the third quarter. Charlie Ham contributed a 33-yard field goal late in the second quarter, Ward Croft threw the screen pass that went to Malcolme for a touchdown and David Edmiston capped off Westminster’s scoring with a touchdown run in the fourth.

Tucker 58, Jonesboro 0

How the game was won: Tucker dominated on both offense and defense while surging to a 44-0 lead at halftime to blow out host Jonesboro. The Tigers scored in all three phases of the game: offense, defense and special teams. A running clock in the second half kept Tucker to just 14 points after the break, although it also hindered Jonesboro’s attempt to put any points on the scoreboard.

Top performers: Tucker’s Chris Broadwater rushed six times for 73 yards and his three touchdowns came from six, 34 and 36 yards out. Taurean Taylor added two touchdowns on the ground to go along with his 107 rushing yards and David Davis scored once. Antonio Showers scored the Tigers’ defensive touchdown in the form of a 27-yard interception return and Josh Vann added a 60-yard punt return to the endzone. Vann also made four catches for 103 yards.
