General Manager Angela Taylor continued to aid the Atlanta Dream on their quest to get back to the WNBA Finals when she acquired 4-time WNBA all-star forward Swin Cash from the Chicago Sky in exchange for guard Courtney Clement on May 7. The teams also swapped picks for the 2015 draft with Atlanta gaining a third-round pick and Chicago obtaining a second-round pick.

Taylor was ecstatic about this acquisition.

“We are thrilled to add an outstanding player like Swin to our roster,” said Taylor. “Her accomplishments in basketball speak for themselves. She will be a tremendous asset to our team and gives us another piece to the puzzle as we continue to strive for a WNBA Championship.”

The 13-year veteran comes to Atlanta after two seasons with Chicago, where she guided the Sky to the best record in the East- ern Conference last season while averaging 9.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 34 games. Already one of the more decorated players in WNBA history, Cash has achieved success at every stop in her professional ca- reer. The 4-time All Star, and two-time Olym- pic gold medal winner started her career with the Detroit Shock where she was twice named second-team All-WNBA (in 2003 and 2004) and winning WNBA championships in 2003 and 2006. After a trade sent her to the Seattle Storm, Cash won her third championship in 2010, defeating the Atlanta Dream in three games. Cash is one of only two players in WNBA history to accumulate career totals of at least 4,500 points, 2,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists

Atlanta defeated the New York Liberty 63-58 in exhibition play on Sunday as they wrap up their final few days of the preseason. The Dream was able to preserve the win de- spite a strong run by the New York offense, which outscored Atlanta 20-13 in the fourth quarter. Guard Tiffany Hayes led the way with 14 points while Erika De Souza chipped in with 10 points and seven boards. Atlanta is set to begin regular season play on Friday when they take on the San Antonio Stars at home. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
