Dalton Wilson is a force of nature on the field and a focused leader in his life. His 2012 season was one to be remembered as he tallied an impressive 168 tackles, 21 of those tackles came in a single game against North Hall in the state semi-finals. He helped St. Pius make it to the state championship last year where they fell to Buford. This year he fully intends to complete their goal of winning the championship game.
Not only is Dalton successful on the field, but he has goals for his grades and his education following high school. “My goal is to finish up high school with a 3.2 GPA, and then go on to study aerospace engineering or investing and accounting”, Dalton explained to me. He has high aspirations for his future and shows no evidence of slacking off work. If he does not end up playing football for a living, he is interested in joining the armed forces. His goal is to either be a Navy Seal or an Army Ranger, two of the more prestigious programs in the United States military. If he doesn’t do that, he’s wants to work in plane design and development.
His work on the field and in the classroom pales in comparison to what he does for his community. He frequently volunteers at St. Vincent’s thrift shop and his family helps a lot with his school’s holiday project to bring gifts to underprivileged families. “While I’m wrapping presents in the school my mom is running around giving people rides home and taking gifts around,” he said, “Nothing feels better than helping people. Especially that time of year.”
In addition to all the work he does with his family, Dalton also contributes alongside his teammates in their local community. One time in particular they went and painted huge murals that they then put up in local hospitals. It’s obvious his main priority is helping his teammates, helping his classmates and helping his community. His future is bright, and he will help make the future of his community bright as well.
