Eric Johnson set to commit today

Eric Johnson was a key factor en route to helping Grayson capture the 2025 6A state championship. He tallied 33 total tackles last season.

The 2026 safety announced a top four Coastal Carolina, FIU, Georgia State, and Miami (OH).

Johnson says Coastal has been recruiting him for a couple of months and he recently visited them.

Carolina has turned into a Sun Belt power house over the past few seasons.

Florida International is another close-to-home school that Johnson regards highly. There are many factors on why the Panthers are high on Johnson’s list.

“The family scenery is out of this world, when I went down there on my OV I felt as if I was already a part of the family.. My position Coach Kenneth Gilstrap has sent a lot of guys to the next level and he’s from the same Area as me so we can relate better.”

Georgia State is very close to Johnson’s home in Loganville. The Panthers are doing what they can to keep the best in Georgia to stay in Georgia, with its new motto, “New Atlanta.”

“It’s a school that could provide a strong foundation in my college career.. I love everything that the head Coach Dell Mcgee stands for and how he is setting not only the players but the program up for success on and off the field.”

The last school in his top four is Miami (OH). Miami is doing what they can in order to gain talent from the peach state.

“Miami Ohio is a great program that has been one of the top teams in the MAC conference sending guys to the league and they have DBs that end up being very successful at that level, so it’s a school that is doing things the right way.”

Johnson will announce his commitment today at about noon.
