Milton Eagles
Last season — 15-0 (6-0, region champions)
The biggest story line surrounding the 15-0 back-to-back Class 5A state champions is who will step up for the Milton Eagles. Milton outscored its opponents 251-87 in the playoffs last season while averaging 50.2 points per game on the way to a 56-35 victory over Hughes in the state championship. Milton graduated six 3-star recruits and four 4-star recruits with players committed to top programs such as Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn and other division 1 power houses. With four-star Miami recruit quarterback Luke Nickel graduated, all eyes now turn to rising junior Derrick Baker to lead the Eagles’ offense. Under Armour All-American tight end Grant Haviland will be showcasing his talents at the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 Tournament as well as three-star linebacker Billy Weivoda. Milton will compete on June 12th as they prepare for the heavily anticipated Week 1 matchup against the Buford Wolves.
Coffee Trojans
Last Season — 11-3 (3-2, third in region)
After an undefeated 15-0 championship season, Coffee followed up its perfect season with an impressive 11-3 record, falling short to Hughes in the Class 5A semifinal round. The Trojans’ playoff run consisted of wins over Jackson County and Brunswick and a captivating 72-48 victory over Sequoyah in the quarterfinals. The Trojans will showcase their explosive tailback, 3-star Kentavius DeBruce, at the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 Tournament on June 11th. DeBruce’s 4.44 forty-yard dash speed has earned him visits to premier college football programs such as Georgia Tech and Louisville. Coffee will open up its 2025 season against Bainbridge where the Trojans have found recent success, winning four of the last five matchups.
North Oconee Titans
Last Season — 15-0 (6-0, region champions)
The North Oconee Titans are one of the top teams to look out for at the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 Tournament on June 17th. The Class 4A State Champions submitted a flawless 15-0 record last season. The Titans took down two historic programs on their way to the first state championship in the program’s history. They defeated Blessed Trinity 27-7 in the semifinal then topped Marist 14-7 in the championship game that came down to the wire. 3-star wide receiver Dallas Dickerson will hope to fill the shoes of recent graduate, Georgia commit Landon Roldan. In his senior season, Roldan recorded 76 receptions, 1,369 yards, and 24 total touchdowns which awarded him the Region 8-4A Athlete of the Year. North Oconee will be led by 3-star Georgia Southern commit Harrison Faulkner. Faulkner is the defending 4A Offensive Player of the Year and a member of the First Team All-State team.
Creekside Seminoles
Last Season — 10-3 (7-0, region champions)
The Creekside Seminoles wrapped up its 2024 season falling short to Marist 27-21 in the Class 4A semifinal. After an 0-2 start, Creekside turned its season around winning the following 10 games while outscoring opponents 449-63, which included five shutouts. The Seminoles’ season was highlighted by a competitive 42-35 win over Kell in the second round of the playoffs and a 26-0 shutout against Eastside in the following round who was 11-1 entering that game. After graduating six-foot-three Western Kentucky wide receiver commit Dylan Vickerson, the Seminoles are looking for their next great receiver. 3-star defensive back and recent Florida Atlantic University commit Sean Williams and athlete Cedric Kelley will prepare in hopes for their strong senior seasons at the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 Tournament on June 12th.
Collins Hill Eagles
Last Season — 11-2 (5-1, second in region)
Collins Hill will be one of the most anticipated teams to watch at the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 Tournament on June 11th. The Eagles fell short in the Class 6A quarterfinals of the 2024 playoffs. After taking down Grayson in the first game of the season, the Rams got their revenge, knocking out the Eagles in a dominant 38-14 victory on the way to Grayson’s fourth state championship. Collins Hill took down star studded rosters in Westlake and Colquitt County on its way to the quarterfinals. Westlake’s 4-star wide receiver Travis Smith Jr enrolled at Tennessee and 5-star offensive tackle Juan Gaston enrolled at Georgia were not enough to stop the Eagles from advancing to the next round with a 35-14 victory. Rising junior quarterback Makyree Cross will look to lead the Eagles to their first championship since Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter did in 2021.
