CLASS AAAAAA

Campbell 33, Stone Mountain 8: Campbell got rushing scores from Demetri Spearman and Kahj Stewart, and got a passing touchdown from Jawan Nobles to Randy McClure. The Spartans also scored when receiver Cameron St. Cyr, after a reception from Nobles, stretched for the pylon and fumbled into the end zone where the ball was covered by Campbell’s Emmanuel Monyei. Campbell also got a 36-yard field goal from Gerardo Escobido.

Cherokee 42, North Forsyth 14: The Warriors improved to 2-0 after their victory against visiting North Forsyth. Donte Baker put the first points on the board for the Warriors. Andrew Harris ran for an 80-yard touchdown to put the Warriors up 14-7 at the half.

Collins Hill 20, Central Gwinnett 9: Visiting Central Gwinnett took a 9-0 lead after a safety and 54-yard Major Bellamy touchdown reception. Jordan Bertrand ran for Collins Hill’s first score and Monty Horn found fellow sophomore Des Howard for a touchdown reception to put the Eagles ahead 14-9. Collins Hill took a 20-9 lead on an 18-yard pass from Blake Randall to Canyon Slade on a fake field goal before the half.

East Coweta 42, Arabia Mountain 14: The host East Coweta received 152 yards and a touchdown on the ground from Devonte Brown. Quarterback Will Laguardia passed for two touchdowns to go along 92 passing yards on 5-for-7 passing. Arabia Mountain’s Malick Mbodji collected five receptions for 82 yards. East Coweta receiver Kevin Lashley pulled down a 34-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Harrison 33, Wheeler 21: Quarterback Lorenzo Nunez rushed for three touchdowns, including a 55-yard run in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring and preserve the win for visiting Harrison. Nunez carried the ball 21 times for 162 yards, and was 8-of-13 passing for 86 yards and an interception. Hayden Messina rushed for 100 yards for Harrison, including touchdown runs of two and one yards.

Hillgrove 14, Shiloh 6: Sonny Harris rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns for visiting Hillgrove. Harris’s first score, a 9-yard rush, was set up in the first quarter by an 86-yard punt return by Marcus Bowens to the Shiloh 9. In the fourth quarter, Matt Wilson hit Jeremiah Bridges for a 70-yard reception to the Shiloh 5, with Harris finishing with a 5-yard touchdown run.

Mill Creek 65, West Forsyth 27: Jonathan Hawkins ran in a school-record 97-yard touchdown and Sidney Otiwu returned an interception for a score to build host Mill Creek’s 37-15 halftime lead. Malik Turner ran in two touchdowns and caught a Cam Turley touchdown pass. Daniel David rushed for a 52-yard touchdown and Brian Efianayi ran for a touchdown and 102 of Mill Creek’s 358 rushing yards.

Newton 63 Meadowcreek 0: Quarterback Ramario Johnson scored two touchdowns and running back Curt Taylor also scored two touchdowns, including an 82-yarder. Augusta Murray scored on an 80-yard run.

Norcross 21, Brookwood 10: Jamir Billings rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns in the first half to give host Norcross a 14-7 lead. Billings finished the game just north of 200 yards. Brookwood cut the deficit to 14-10 in the third quarter with a 37-yard field goal by Nick Marquez but Nathanael Thomas punched in a 1-yard Norcross touchdown to extend the lead to 21-10.

North Cobb 36, North Gwinnett 29: Quarterback Tyler Queen broke a 29-29 tie with :39 to play with a 1-yard touchdown run, and North Cobb held on for the road win after a last-second North Gwinnett pass from the Warriors’ 20-yardline fell incomplete in the end zone. Queen, an Auburn commitment, threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two, in addition to completing two passes for two-point conversions. North Cobb finished with 470 yards of total offense.

Northview 42, Duluth 7: Josh Moran returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown and D.J. Pearson found Nate Phillips for the first of his three touchdown passes and ran for a score to put host Northview ahead 21-7 at the half. Ricci Nuckles (36-yard catch), Justin Westbrook (66-yard catch) and Phillips (5-yard run) each scored in the third quarter to put the Titans up 42-7.

Parkview 42, Mountain View 21: Host Parkview built a 35-7 halftime lead behind the arm of quarterback Jack Chambers who passed for four touchdowns, all in the first half, and 216 yards. Tyler Fleetwood caught three touchdown passes from Chambers, while running back Cameron Watson chipped in two touchdowns on the ground.

Peachtree Ridge 14, Archer 10: After a scoreless first quarter, Lions quarterback Chance Thrasher found DeAngelo Gibbs for a touchdown pass and ran in a 7-yard score to give host Peachtree Ridge a 14-0 halftime lead. Gibbs had hauled in four receptions for 135 yards in the first half. Neither team scored in the third quarter and Archer made it a one-possession game with the only touchdown of the second half on a blocked punt and Nick Blakely recovery for a touchdown. The Tigers added a field goal with 4:03 left to make it 14-10.

South Cobb 57, Pope 35: Host South Cobb was led by an incredible performance from quarterback Kylil Carter. Carter passed for 400 yards and four touchdowns and added 145 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in the victory. Pope’s Carson Day caught two touchdowns to give Pope an early 14-7 lead. The Eagles led 24-21 at the half before outscoring the Greyhounds 33-14 after the intermission.

 

CLASS AAAAA

Allatoona 41, Villa Rica 22: Junior tailback Russell Halimon rushed for four touchdowns for visiting Allatoona. Fullback Bryant Dallas added a rushing touchdown, and quarterback Connor Larson threw a touchdown pass to Zach Nichols. Allatoona safety Riley Webb intercepted a pass for the Buccaneers’ only forced turnover.

Druid Hills 22, Chamblee 14: Trevino Huff rushed for 107 yards on 20 carries in the Red Devils’ victory. Senior quarterback Devante Jennings converted a crucial two-point attempt to give Druid Hills an 8-point lead in the fourth quarter. The Red Devils amassed 227 total yards in their victory.

Flowery Branch 29, Chestatee 0: Nick Lance threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns for the visiting Flowery Branch Falcons before the half. Jeremiah Goss ran for a touchdown and caught a 63-yard pass en route to his second touchdown. Hayden Colee had a 29-yard touchdown pass after a Chestatee fumble to give the Falcons a 22-0 halftime lead. Cortez Davis added a 69-yard touchdown in the third.

Loganville 28, Monroe Area 12: Loganville rode sophomore Daryl Giles, who rushed for 240 yards. Cody Mixon threw a touchdown to Jeffrey New to put Loganville up 14-12 after a wild scramble. Giles punched in the game-sealing 8-yard run with 1:30 left in the fourth after Josh Owen picked off a Jacob Olson pass.

Miller Grove 20, Pebblebrook 14: Host Miller Grove erased a 14-7 halftime deficit by outscoring Pebblebrook 13-0 in the second half. Junior quarterback Sedric Jefferson threw for three touchdowns including two to Jerico Carmichael and the game-winner to Brian Reed. Miller Grove’s Jonathan Mitchell hauled in a key interception with the score tied at 14 that set up Reed’s touchdown reception.

Morrow 27, Mt. Zion-Jonesboro 24: Quarterback Larry Hodenect led the way for visiting Morrow, tossing three touchdown passes while scoring one on the ground. Mt. Zion started strong in the second half, returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. A late 50-yard touchdown pass from Hodenect sealed the game for the visitors as the Mustangs improved to 1-1 on the season.

Riverwood 34, Holy Innocents’ 3: The host Raiders used two touchdowns each in the second and third quarters to sprint away from Holy Innocents’. Marcus Rosser opened the scoring in the second quarter on a 65-yard run. Marvin Kinsey then caught a 48-yrd touchdowns pass from Rosser to extend the lead to 14-0. In the third quarter, Jelani Reed returned a punt 745 yards to make the score 24-3, then intercepted a pass and took it 28 yards for another score. Riverwood led 27-3 entering the final quarter.

Sequoyah 10 Etowah 34: Sequoyah started the game with a 10-minute drive only to get stopped at the one. Etowah drove 99 yards down the field and scored on a Robbie Knox 18-yard pass to Raishod Devezin. Bronson Rechsteiner added a touchdown reception in the first half. Scott Morgan, Devezin and Patrick Ferris all scored via the ground in the second half. Sequoyah’s lone touchdown came with 19 seconds left.

Stockbridge 33 Eagle’s Landing Christian 3: After an ELCA field goal, Stockbridge ran off 33 unanswered points. Josh Amanfo scored on an interception for a touchdown. Artemus Mitchell broke off touchdown runs of 40 ad 25 yards. Marquez caught a 33-yard touchdown pass to balloon the lead to 20-3. Jamari Clark concluded the scoring on a 47-yard fumble return.

 

CLASS AAAA

Buford 56, Berkmar 0: The Buford defense held visiting Berkmar to minus-17 rushing yards and 26 total yards of offense. Xavier Gant returned the opening kickoff to midfield and took the next two carries for a 43-yard run and a 2-yard touchdown. Wolves quarterback Luke Humphrey finished 6-of-7 passing for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Stephen Reese (19 yards) and Brandon Mangrum (34 yards) hauled in the Humphrey touchdown receptions. Josh Thomas ran in a pair of first-quarter touchdowns that extended the lead to 28-0. Freshman Christian Turner ran for Buford’s final touchdown from three yards out. The Wolves tallied 314 of their 392 total yards of offense in the first half.

Cartersville 41, Cass 7: Host Cartersville turned to runningback Kalin Heath, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Heath added eight receptions for 127 yards. The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes played two quarterbacks in Miller Forristall and Trevor Lawrence, who combined to go 17 of 20 passing for 271 passing yards. Tiamon Pennymon had eight carries for 45 yards for the Hurricanes. Kobie Whitfield added five receptions for 75 yards and returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown.

Eagle’s Landing 21 Union Grove 6: After a first half marred with penalties, Eagle’s Landing pulled away. Both teams blocked field goals in the first half. A 36-yard touchdown pass from George McDonald to Andy Constant put Eagle’s Landing up 7-3. Eagle’s Landing put the game out of reach on another touchdown pass from McDonald to Constant, this time for 33 yards. Three turnovers by Union Grove proved to be too much to overcome.

Lithonia 39, Clarkston 7: Oral Varcciann scored two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Lithonia past Clarkston. Varcciann had touchdowns runs of 64 and 48 yards and finished with 165 yards rushing. His touchdown pass covered 56 yards. Lithonia got its first touchdown when Jordan O’Neal recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Lithonia, which led 39-0 in the fourth quarter, moved to 1-0. Clarkston dropped to 0-2.

Locust Grove 38, Ola 35: Locust Grove came from behind after trailing 35-21 to earn a 38-35 victory. It was a 30-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter that gave Locust Grove the lead for good. Cameron Maddox for Locust Grove totaled more than 300 yards of offense and accounted for three touchdowns for the Wildcats.

Sandy Creek 35, Jonesboro 6: Eric Swinney led the way for the Patriots on the ground rushing for over a hundred yards and two touchdowns. Sandy Creek led 28-0 at half and never looked back. Jonesboro struggled to move the ball, as defensive backs for Sandy Creek combined for three interceptions. Sandy Creek moves to 2-0 on the season.

Whitewater 43 Starr’s Mill 21: Whitewater road the arm of quarterback Jay Ashley as he threw for four touchdowns, including two to Luke Allen. The first Ashley-Allen strike went for 57 yards while the second was a one-yard toss. Hunter Worley caught an 18-yard touchdown and Jonathan O’Brien was on the receiving end of a 12-yarder. Christian Wafford scored two touchdowns on the ground on 16- and 2-yard runs.

Woodward Academy 45, Decatur 13: Woodward junior running back Elijah Holyfield had seven touchdowns on 11 carries for 147 yards helping the Eagles to a 45-13 win over visiting Decatur. Holyfield’s longest run of the night was an 84-yard punt return early in the first quarter. Decatur put points on the board late in the second quarter and then in the third with a 35-yard reception.

 

CLASS AAA

Cedar Grove 34, Southwest DeKalb 6: Cedar Grove’s LaBron Morris scored three touchdowns to lead the Saints past Southwest DeKalb. Morris scored on runs of 10, 18 and 40 yards. Cedar Grove also got a 20-yard touchdown run from Trey Shaw and a 25-yard touchdown run from James Hartsfield. Southwest DeKalb’s only touchdown came on a short kickoff return by Ebere Ohaya.

Westminster 13, Lovett 10: The host Wildcats won the Battle of Buckhead for the first time since 2011 after forcing two crucial turnovers and scoring their only touchdown with just over two minutes left when Rankin Wooley hit Cole Haverty on a 23-yard touchdown pass to give Westminster the lead. Kicker Trey Blasingame made two second-quarter field goals to help the Wildcats to a 6-0 half-time lead. Lovett scored in the third to take a 7-6 edge and made a field goal in the fourth to extend the lead.

 

CLASS AA

Greater Atlanta Christian 28, North Oconee 10: Sophomore quarterback Davis Mills accounted for all four of GAC’s touchdowns, throwing for three scores and rushing for another. The visiting Spartans jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead after Mills hit Justin Phan on a 31-yard passing score and a 64-yard passing score and ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the first half. Mills capped the Spartans’ scoring with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Darius Slayton in the third quarter.

 

CLASS A

North Cobb Christian 36, Cross Keys 12 : North Cobb Christian’s offense was led by running back David Brittingham who had three rushing touchdowns. Brittingham ran for 111 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback Jalen Dantier also added a 47-yard touchdown run, and passed to Chandler Moeller for a 12-yard score. North Cobb Christian moved to 1-0. Cross Keys is 0-1.

St.Francis 47, Providence Christian 10: The Storm put forth a valiant effort behind junior quarterback Jeremy Hardnett who scored Providence Christian’s first varsity touchdown on a 69-yard scamper. Colin Moncreif added a 36-yard field goal. A.J. Cummings showed his speed on two long touchdown runs for St. Francis. Max Carter for Providence Christian came away with 11 tackles and two assists.
