GAC sweeps own track invitational

The Brookwood track and field programs continue to show well against some of the state’s top programs. Over the weekend, the Brookwood boys finished first at the Flowery Branch Invitational, compiling 169.50 points to easily beat out second-place finisher Duluth. Collins Hill finished third with Dunwoody and Habersham Central rounding out the top five. Brookwood took advantage in the field portion, earning wins in the discus, shot put, triple jump and pole vault. Jay Lawson also scored victories for Brookwood in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. James Slavik took home a win in the 3200-meter run for host Flowery Branch. The Brookwood girls finished third behind Dunwoody and Collins Hill. Dunwoody swept the top two spot in the 200-meter dash before snagging victories in the 800-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs. Dunwoody also claimed victories in the two relays. … Greater Atlanta Christian swept both the boys and the girls titles at the GACS Invitational, as Blessed Trinity settled for second in both fields. Alex Rowe won the boys long jump for the host Spartans while Darius Slayton (100 meters) and Micah Abernathy (400 meters) also earned individual honors. Greater Atlanta Christian also captured the boys 4×100 meter relay. … The Lady Spartans were led by individual event winners Kayin Mujahid (discus, high jump), Courtney Fair (triple jump) and Maileka Slayton (100 meters, 200 meters) to power past Blessed Trinity. … Several Georgia programs took part in the Bob Hayes Invitational at Jacksonville’s Raines High School. McEachern’s Bryce Glover finished second in the boys triple jump while senior Cory Nicholls finished with the fastest time in the boys unseeded 1600-meter run. McEachern’s Alexius Waldon finished seventh in the girls long jump. Cierra Dunston finished third and Christoni Wynn fifth in the 400-meter dash. Elsewhere, Mays’ Christian Walker finished seventh in the boys triple jump. Ne’Cole Whitehurst finished eighth in the girls triple jump. Dyarius Tucker of Hillgrove won the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. … Shaw was the big winner at the Heard County Invitational as the girls beat out Northside-Columbus 170.5-161-5 while the boys finished second to LaGrange. The Shaw boys captured the 4×400 meter relay and the 4×100 meter relay and Hakeem Mustafaa won the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run. The Shaw girls also swept the two relay events and Breeanna Mahone won the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. … At the Bo James Invitational, Rabun County scored a mixed team score victory with 174 points, beating out Tallulah Falls and East Hall.

    Did you steal your text from the Brookwood trck website? Pretty ridiculous leading a sentence with the Brookwood girls finished third. S/b Dunwoody won the girls …followed by Collins Hill

    what is a trck website? And did you read the first sentence? The first sentence mentions both Brookwood teams. Makes sense he’d talk about both Brookwood teams then before he spoke of other teams, wouldn’t you agree Bobkitty?
