Georgia Tech commits talk being back on campus

Georgia Tech has one of the top classes in the class of 2026. Its class currently ranks as the 34th overall class with 15 commits according to 247 Sports.

Traeviss Stevenson is the second highest commit according to 247 sports in the class so far. The 4-star defensive back plays for Brooks County and helped lead them to a state championship berth in 2024.

He competed with his Brooks County squad at the Brent Key/Corky Kell 7-on-7 tournament.

“I’m trying to prove to my coaches that I am who I say I am. Stevenson went on, “I like the unity part, I feel comfortable that this is my home. Getting a degree from Georgia Tech means a lot.”

Brooks Co. lost to eventual champions Marietta in the first round.

Another Georgia Tech commit on display was Xavier Rucker from Allatoona. The 3-star running back ran for 1,135 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

Allatoona competed the day before Brooks County at Georgia Tech and Rucker enjoyed being in the area.

“I am getting used to the area. I get to talk to the coaches a lot and get to know the players as well. I want to build my character as a man (at Tech) and find what career I am doing at these four years at Tech.”

As for his last season of high school ball, Rucker is looking to leave a legacy at Allatoona.

“I want to rush for 1000 yards (again), win a region championship, and hopefully make deep run in the playoffs.”

Allatoona lost to Commerce in the second round at Georgia Tech.

Both commits will look to enjoy big senior seasons before the head to Atlanta and prepare for big careers at the next level.
