The Milton Eagles and Roswell Hornets will square off tonight on GPB.org with each program boasting a powerful running game. Roswell’s Andrew Kwateng has been burning up turf all season long, starting with a monster performance against Centennial. Kwateng racked up 236 yards against the Knights and has topped the century mark in each game thus far. The big back is doing it out of the I-formation behind a healthy offensive line featuring Zach Adams, Justin Auer, Patrick Partain and Pat Sheehan.
Ryan Monty has been outstanding at quarterback, steadying the ship while finding Bennett Barton and John Albert on the outside.
Defensively, a pair of Hills has been solid up front for Roswell in the Hornets’ 1-2 start that easily could be 2-1. Hunter Hill mans the tackle spot while Devonte Hill plays the Bandit position. Grant Beidel and Richard Delphin can sound off from the linebacker spot while Alex Brandeis brings the thunder from the secondary.
Milton is loaded with college talent and may boast the best offensive line in the state. Josh Harris and Cory Helms are both headed to Wake Forest next year and Eason Fromayan has pledged to TCU. The best of the bunch may be sophomore Nick Wilson, who already holds offers from Tennessee and UNC.
All of that beef opens up holes for a fine tandem of backs in Peyton Barber and Trayvon Paulk. Barber is headed to Ole Miss next season while Paulk is already being looked at as one of 2014′s top backs. A.J. Bush also likes to find Malik Mitchell on some play-action set up by the Milton running game.
But eyes will certainly be on Carl Lawson, one of the nation’s top defensive linemen. ESPN has him fifth overall in the ESPN 150. The five star end is headed to Auburn next year. If not for Grayson’s Robert Nkemdiche, plenty of talk would be centered around Lawson as the top player in the state.
The key to this game for Roswell will be keeping Lawson at bay while Milton will look to unleash its monster on defense and run wild on offense. The team that wins the ground game will walk away Friday night with a victory.
