Norcross 42, Lakeside-DeKalb 10
Top performers: Blue Devils quarterback Baron Radcliff was 10-of-18 passing for touchdowns of 25 yards to Tamir Jones and 13 yards to Ricky Holloman Jr. while rushing for a 15-yard TD. Necholas Sermons (20 yds) and Omar Sinclair (2 yds) also had rushing scores for Norcross, and linebacker Terrion Dangerfield had an interception return for a score. Between kickers Jake Camarda and Cole Hanna, all Norcross kickoffs went for touchbacks.
Dacula 25, Gainesville 20
How the game was won: Looking to stay atop the region standings, Dacula got things started with an interception return for a touchdown by Jalen Perry. Gainsville came back on their next drive to make it 7-6, missing the extra point. Only up by one, the Falcons scored back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter, giving them a 19-6 lead heading into the half. After another touchdown in the third quarter, Dacula would extend their lead to 25-6, but the Red Elephants would pull the game within five points with just under six minutes remaining.
Top Performers: To go with Jalen Perry’s interception for a touchdown, Tre McMillian ran for two rushing touchdowns, one for 38-yards in the first half.
Mountain View 24, Collins Hill 21
How the game was won: For the rights to second place in the region, Mountain View and Collins Hill fought it out until the end. The Eagles would get on the board first, only to have Mountain View tie it up on the next drive. On their next possession, the Bears would take their first lead of the night. Collins Hill, with less than a minute until halftime, tied things up at 14-14. At the start of the 2nd half, the Eagle regained the lead off Drew Dinsmore’s third passing touchdown of the night (21-14). Down but not out, Mountain View notched things up at 21-21 after Matthew Edwards’ third passing touchdown. With eight minutes remaining, Carlos Ayala hit what ended up being the game-winning 30-yard field goal (24-21).
Top Performers: Matthew Edwards went 25-40 passing for 319 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mountain View.
Greater Atlanta Christian 49, Lumpkin County 21
How the game was won: Host Greater Atlanta Christian burst to a 42-0 halftime lead. Stanford-commit Davis Mills got the Spartans going with a 60-yard touchdown pass to Jake Floyd and Kyler McMichael raced in for a 65-yard touchdown to make it 14-0. Alex Boglin, Davis Markham and Mills added GAC rushing touchdowns and then Mills found Harrison Sloan for his second touchdown pass to make it 42-0.
Top performers: GAC’s Davis Mills tossed two touchdown passes and rushed for a touchdown. Trey Morrison capped off the Spartans scoring with his second kickoff return touchdown in the past two weeks.
Buford 56, Cedar Shoals 14
How the game was won: Five different rushers cracked the end zone as the Buford Wolves overwhelmed Cedar Shoals following a 7-0 Jaguar lead on an Akeem Glenn fake field goal touchdown pass to Stavion Stevenson. The Wolves hung 56-straight points before Jerphari Colbert returned a late kick return for a score. Cedar Shoals has now lost four straight games after a 3-0 start.
Top Performers: Anthony Grant scored on runs of 34 and five yards. Derrian Brown posted a 24-yard touchdown run while TD Roof plunged in from 1-yard out and tacked on a 2-yard score as well. Christian Turner scored from two yards and 32 yards. Davin Bryant had a 5-yard touchdown run.
Mill Creek 31, Peachtree Ridge 12
How the game was won: Cameron Turley penned his name in the Mill Creek history books, finishing 18-of-29 for school-records of 347 passing yards and four touchdowns. Turley’s 60-yard strike to Ace Williams broke the school-record for touchdown passes in a career, which now sits at 37. Defensively the Hawks held the Lions to -16 yards rushing. Mill Creek led 14-6 at the half before wearing down Peachtree Ridge.
Top Performers: Cameron Turley tossed touchdowns of seven yards to Mitch McEnaney, 60 yards to Edmond Graham, 60 to Ace Williams and 40 to Adrian Jackson on a fourth down conversion. Brenton King added a 30-yard field goal in the fourth.
Brookwood 55, Central Gwinnett 45
How the game was won: Brookwood outscored Central Gwinnett 20-0 in the third quarter to erase a 10-point halftime deficit and claim a 41-31 lead entering the final frame. Central Gwinnett quarterback and Kentucky-commit Jarren Williams was sensational and completed 18-of-22 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 44 yards and a score to build Central Gwinnett’s 31-21 halftime lead. Brookwood got going with a 53-yard kickoff return in the first quarter by Matthew Hill that set up a Guillermo Luna 3-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 14-7. Hill scored the first of his three touchdowns to open the second quarter and tie the game 14-14. After a 43-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Jallah Zeze gave Central Gwinnett a 21-14 lead, Brookwood’s Dante Black answered with a 3-yard touchdown run with 4:45 left in the half. A 25-yard field goal with five seconds left in the half and Williams’ third touchdown pass pushed tallied the halftime score. Luna sparked Brookwood’s dominant third quarter with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Black gave Brookwood its first lead of the game (34-31) with his second rushing score of the game. Black had been sidelined for the past three weeks with a high ankle sprain. Amir Berry came up with a forced fumble and 83-yard fumble return touchdown on the ensuing Central Gwinnett possession and gave the Broncos their 41-31 lead. Central Gwinnett capitalized on a Brookwood fumble to open the final quarter and cut the deficit to 41-38. Hill quickly answered with his second rushing touchdown of the game to push the lead back to 48-38. Williams rushed for his second touchdown on a 4th and goal from the 1-yard line with 3:25 left to make it 48-45. The Black Knights failed an onside attempt, and Hill punched in his third touchdown with 54 seconds to clinch the victory.
Top Performers: Central Gwinnett quarterback Jarren Williams passed for 342 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for two scores. Brookwood’s Matthew Hill ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns, while teammate Dante Black added 126 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Prince Avenue Christian 48, Hebron Christian 17
How the game was won: Prince Avenue ripped of 27-straight points after Hebron Christian took a 3-0 lead on a field goal with 2:18 left in the first quarter. The Wolverines scored nearly every way imaginable, using a kick return, punt return, fumble recovery and touchdown run to gain a commanding first half lead.
Top Performers: Thomas Huff scored on runs of one and five yards. Tyler Roberts returned a kick 70 yards and Christian Parrish took a punt back 55 yards. Collin Sweet returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown. Noah Campbell and Nick Brown scored on touchdown runs of seven and five yards, respectively.
