Three-star prospect Evan Harvey has found his home and is now a Memphis Tiger. He’s been a multi-year starter for the Sandy Creek Patriots and detailed his decision to become a Tiger.
“The energy felt different. As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt welcomed. The coaches, the players everyone treated me like family. It just felt right. Coach Cauthen, Coach Long and Coach Parrish really took the time to get to know me, not just as a player, but as a person. We’ve built a solid connection. The whole staff kept it real throughout the process, and that stood out,” said Harvey.
Harvey’s recruiting began with Memphis in February when he picked up an offer and only grew from there. His relationship with head coach Ryan Silverfield is strong and has only been growing.
“Coach Silverfield has been straight up with me since day one. He believes in my potential, and he’s been clear about how I fit into the program’s future. He sees my motor. A lot of coaches talk about size and stats, but he sees the effort, the hunger, and the way I attack every play,” said Harvey.
One thing that remained constant with talking about the Tigers with Harvey was the culture and the brotherhood. It caught his eye when he went around the team and experienced the program.
“Definitely the culture. It’s gritty and competitive, and it feels like a brotherhood. Everyone pushes each other to get better every day. The campus is really nice, and the facilities are really nice as well. They have everything a player needs to develop, from the weight room to the film rooms,” said Harvey.
Similar to Memphis, Sandy Creek has a lot of the same elements. Grit, toughness, hard work, attitude, and a brotherhood like no other. Sandy Creek is in a good position to make some noise in 3A in 2025 and get back to state championship glory. It starts on the defensive side of the ball with Evan Harvey, Dana Greenhow, Chase Usher, and four-star Corey Hadley leading the charge. Harvey talked about what he is working on for the preparation of the season and his
“I’ve been working on expanding my bag. Been adding a spin, a better rip move, and just getting quicker off the line. Dominate. I want to lead my team and ultimately win a State Championship. I want to make a statement before I get to Memphis. I want to show I’m ready to play at the next level.
There is without a doubt that Memphis is getting one of the best defensive linemen the Peach State has to offer. Now, the question is how soon we will see his exceptional talent hit the gridiron on the next level.
