Isaiah Crowell arrested, dismissed

The Georgia Bulldogs got some bad news early Friday morning when tailback Isaiah Crowell was arrested for three weapons charges. He was dismissed per a UGA press release sent at 2:58 p.m.

Crowell was arrested at 3:37 a.m. on charges of having a concealed weapon, having a weapon in a school zone and having an altered ID mark on that weapon. Bond for Crowell was set at $9,500 late this morning.

Getting into trouble is nothing new to Crowell. Last year he was benched during the first quarter of the Vanderbilt game for an unknown disciplinary infraction. Crowell was later suspended for the New Mexico State game for reportedly failing a drug test. According to the UGA Student-Athlete Handbook, a felony arrest requires the student-athlete to be suspended immediately. A “Comprehensive Action Plan Committee” will then investigate the situation and will forward disciplinary action to athletic director Greg McGarity.

Crowell entered the 2011 season as the top-rated running back prospect in the country. He rushed for 850 yards and five touchdowns, and Crowell was named SEC Freshman of the Year. Crowell did this despite missing stretches during the second half of the season due to injuries and suspensions.
