Knights play well in 7 on 7

New Centennial football coach Jeffrey Carlberg is quickly putting his fingerprints all over the Knights program, and he has invited Score along for the ride during his first year at the helm. Here are highlights from last week.

We participated in a 7 on 7 tournament over the weekend at Central Gwinnett in Lawrenceville. The team finished with a 2-4 record in fourth place after we defeated Jefferson County 21-20 in our final game of the event.

I thought we played really well for the first time in a 7 on 7 tournament like this. We made great strides in running out offensive and defensive schemes. I know our kids are a lot better when it comes to understanding our schemes and how the coaches expect them to play. Overall it was a great learning environment for our team.

This Thursday and Friday we will travel to North Gwinnett for another tournament that features Grayson, Gainesville, Grady, Northview, North Gwinnett, as well as teams traveling from across the Southeast such as Olive Branch (Miss.), Byrnes (S.C.) and Spartanburg (S.C.). It should be some great competition.
