Life on the Dream beat

What’s up Dream Fans? Josh Bagriansky here, your man for all things Dream at Score Atlanta. It’s been a tough year so far. But it’s important to keep in mind that this is an expansion team, so the sky isn’t exactly falling. However, I’m sure that watching a team go 0-13 isn’t exactly what you fans out there had in mind. Honestly, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting either.

Sure there’s some young potential, but this team is not anywhere close to being equipped enough to win consistently. Ivory Latta is only starting to realize her potential at the point guard position, there has simply been zero production from the post players since Erika DeSouza went down, and a lack of experience and overall talent in general has resulted in a lack of execution on both ends of the floor.

So where do we go from here? This team is virtually out of the playoff race already and just one loss in Connecticut away from setting the WNBA record for the worst start ever. I’ll be at practice this week and be sure to report back with how things are going, but from what I’ve already seen, I don’t expect them to let up. Coach Meadors has this team playing hard every night, you’ve got to at least give the oft-criticized coach that much (I’ll have more to say about her as the season goes on).

In other news, the Dream hit the trade market Monday by shipping out backup forward Camille Little to Seattle for a second round pick. Little showed some flashes early in the season, but she just never seemed to be able to put a good bunch of games together. Look for more from on this later in the week, it will be interesting to hear why Meadors chose to send Little to the Pacific Northwest.

That’s all I’ve got for now. But expect much more from me later this week as the Dream prepare to embark upon their weekend road trip.

Remember, this blog is up here for you guys. And I’m excited about that, this site gives us a chance to interact and discuss, so don’t be afraid to let your feelings known. So if you have any questions or comments, just get at me and I’ll be sure to respond.
