Millsap to miss next two games with shoulder sprain

The injury bug has continued to bite the Hawks during the second half of the season and this time it is starting power forward Paul Millsap who has been diagnosed with a contusion and sprain in his right shoulder. Today the Hawks announced that the all-star will miss both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s game. Millsap suffered the injury in a lopsided 131-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday after colliding with Earl Clark in a loose ball scramble. Millsap departed after 17 minutes of play. Millsap was immediately sent to the locker room and many feared the injury would sideline the versatile big man for the playoffs.

Millsap is the team leader in points (16.8) and rebounds (7.8) and the two games he will miss will be against the Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn Nets. Mike Muscala, a second-year big man out of Bucknell, saw an increased roll with Millsap down as he started the second half and finished with seven points. He along with Pero Antic and Elton Brand should be expected to see some more playing time with the star forward injured.
