The Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter 7-on-7 Classic returns for its third year and this year it has more games than ever. There will be hundreds of games across the six-day schedule as teams prepare for the upcoming season. June 18th is one of the days that will include many premier programs in the 16-team will take part in the event over the day as one looks to come out on top.
Here are some schools to watch on Wednesday, June 18th.
Hampton (4A)
Last Season — 8-3 (6-2, third in region)
The Hampton Hornets return a solid group of players ahead of the 2025 season. Last season, the Hornets dominated big-time opponents such as McDonough (45-13) and Locust Grove (40-16). Its season ended after a first round loss to Eastside 42-0.
Hampton has a few players to watch. Athlete Kamauri Dorsey led the team in receiving yards last year and is also a 4-star linebacker. Tristan Parks will be the leader at quarterback. He threw for over 1800 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. The team will have some tough competition if they want to take home the trophy, but they have more than enough talent to do so.
Brooks County (1A-Division II)
Last Season — 10-5 (4-1, won region)
Despite a rocky start to the season, Brooks County went on a Cinderella run last season to the state championship. They pulled off a massive upset over Manchester High School 17-14 in overtime in the semifinals. The Trojans will look to follow that up with enough strong showing in 2025.
Brooks is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. George Lamons Jr is a 6-foot-5, 4 star receiver in the 2027 class. Any ball thrown in his direction is always catchable for him. On the other side of things, Traeviss Stevenson is a locksmith at corner. He tallied 10 pass breakups last season and 5 interceptions. Lamons is committed to Texas A&M while Stevenson is a Georgia Tech-commit.
Pace Academy (4A)
Last Season — 4-6 (3-4, fourth in region)
Pace Academy is one of the most prestigious schools in Georgia and its football team is no different. They are coming off a difficult year where they lost many close games to tough opponents.
They will likely be without 5-star Justin Weeks in the 7v7 tournament because he is a D-Lineman, although he could make an appearance at linebacker.
One player that likely will attend the event is 4-star safety Adryan Cole. Cole is ranked as a 4-star on all major recruiting platforms.
Cole has been working in the offseason by “staying focused and grounded,” he said.
Blessed Trinity (4A)
Last Season — 11-2 (4-0, won region)
Blessed Trinity has had one of the best rosters in AAAA over the past few years. They were finally able to put together a playoff run last season as they went to the semifinals.
Similarly to Pace, Blessed Trinity might be without 5 star edge DJ Jacobs (as well as his younger brother Dawson) at the seven-versus-seven event. However, he has been known to play linebacker in the past.
Either way, the Titans will bring some heavy-hitters to Atlanta. Rising senior Brooks Goodman looks to lead his team to a state championship before the quarterback heads off to Cincinnati next year. Ahmonae Pitts is a returning thousand-yard back, but was the team’s second-leading receiver last season. So expect him to be heavily involved at the event.
Carver Columbus (2A)
Last Season — 15-1 (7-0, won region)
Columbus comes into 2025 with a new head coach in former UGA stand out Jarvis Jones. Jones takes over a roster that won the state championship last season. This included a dominant 52-14 win over Burke County in the state title game.
Its roster has top talents at nearly every position and looks to be the favorite to win in the The Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter 7-on-7 Classic. Some key players they will feature are KJ Miles (UNC WR commit), Terrious Favors (Boise State athlete commit, and Antavius Watts (Mississippi State safety commit).
