The Official Visit: Mack Brown and Antonio Goodwin talk recruiting

The Official Visit (Score Atlanta’s all-recruiting radio show on 790 The Zone every Sunday from 2-4) was back at it last weekend and, in speaking with MLK running back Mack Brown and Washington receiver Antonio Goodwin, got the chance to catch up with two of the state’s finest recruits. Brown, a speedy 5-foot-11, 185-pound back, is clearly Georgia’s best at his position and, on Sunday, gave listeners some pretty good insight into his always-changing recruitment.

First, while Brown has long considered the Florida Gators his leader, on Sunday he informed us that the University of Georgia has pulled even in the battle for his services. Gator fans also received more bad news when Brown informed the show that he did not make his scheduled visit to Gainesville last weekend and when he admitted that he would feel most comfortable playing in a pro-style offense. Finally, when asked if calling Florida his leader on so many occasions has resulted in other schools using negative recruiting tactics against the Gators, Brown said it had, saying specifically that the competition has told him Florida head coach Urban Meyer is on his way out.

Finally, there was one silver lining in the interview for Gator fans: of all the coaches recruiting Brown, he still speaks to Meyer the most. And keep the MLK star on your radar, as he has plans to announce his decision sometime within the next two weeks.

As for Goodwin, the 6-2, 170-pounder is taking the recruiting process a lot slower at this time than most other prospects. He has yet to make any visits, outside of Georgia and Auburn, and said he will wait until the end of the season to make his commitment known. He did, however, give us his top five, which included Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas and North Carolina.
