The Way Too Early 2019 Football Rankings: Class AAAAAA

This (way too early) edition of the Class AAAAAAA 2019 football rankings has been assembled based off a variety of factors and estimations. We will attempt to validate the reasoning behind the order that has been selected by presenting some of the stats or factors that went into our consideration. The Class AAAAA poll will be released on Tuesday and the remaining classes will be released in descending order each day that follows.

The two-time defending state champion Lee County Trojans return as No. 1 in Class AAAAAA. The program’s high-powered offense and consistent dominance on the defensive side of the ball makes them the team to beat again. Lee County, and the three other Region 1 teams that reached last year’s playoffs (Northside-Warner Robins, Coffee, Valdosta) swept their way to the state quarterfinals before Northside and Lee County squared off in the finals. Region 1’s clout gives them four teams in this year’s top 7 with Northside-Warner Robins No. 2, Valdosta No. 4 Coffee No. 6.

Dacula reached the state semifinals under first-year head coach Clint Jenkins for the first time since 2005 this past season with a 11-3 finish. The Falcons have won 15-straight region games heading into 2019 and have a ton of returning talent to continue the trend. Glynn Academy has eleven-straight playoff appearances and has picked up 12 playoff wins in head coach Rock Hidalgo’s five seasons at the school. The Red Terrors come in at No. 5.

Quarterback Gavin Hall will be back for his senior season to lead No. 6 Harrison and David Roberts will be back in the Hoyas’ backfield to give them a physical ball carrier that can also help with pass protection. Harrison finds itself in a crowded Region 6-AAAAAA with No. 8 Sequoyah and No. 9 Creekview. Tucker caps the poll at No. 10.
