Thomas County Central CB Eddie Guerra commits to Old Dominion

Eddie Guerra saw an uptick in his recruiting at the end of January, going into the month of February after a strong junior season. A number of schools were scouting and trying to land the Thomas County Central prospect.

Before announcing his commitment to Old Dominion, Guerra had 12 offers. Some notable schools included Arkansas State, Oregon State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, USF, and Southern Miss. He took unofficial visits to South Alabama, James Madison, Old Dominion, Howard, and Liberty.

In terms of his recruitment with Old Dominion, Guerra picked up an offer on February 11th. He took an unofficial visit on April 10th and, less than two weeks later, made his decision to become a Monarch. He was recruited by Dwike Wilson, who is the cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator for Old Dominion. During Guerra’s 2024 junior season, he played 255 coverage snaps, and he finished with five pass breakups, an interception returned for a touchdown, and zero touchdowns allowed. His interception returned for a touchdown came in a 54-7 victory over Monroe. Guerra also finished with 40 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. His best game came against rival Thomasville in a 48-10 victory. He finished with six tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Guerra set a career-high in nearly every statistical category last year with the Yellow Jackets. Thomas County Central recently announced changes to its practice schedule and the cancellation of the Jamboree game at Georgia State. They now have one game even better, and will play 4A power Creekside on Friday, May 16th.
