The talented signal caller made his pledge to the Utes. Johnson received an offer from Utah on May 19th and went on an official visit on June 6th. He committed just a few short days later.
Johnson was previously committed to Mississippi State before reopening his commitment in September. According to 247Sports Composite, Johnson is a 3-star prospect, the No. 49 QB, the No. 98 player in Georgia, and the No. 860 player nationally.
Johnson had a strong season for Dutchtown before transferring over to Douglas County. He threw for 2,700 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was also a threat with his legs, rushing for 618 yards and 10 touchdowns. One of his best games of the season came against McIntosh when he threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown.
I got the chance to see Johnson in person during the spring in a spring Jamboree that included Carver-Columbus. New Manchester and Douglas County. It was one throw that Johnson made that showcased his ball placement and deep ball accuracy. As he dropped back to the past, he threw the ball in a tight window right past the defender outstretched hands island hitting his receiver in stride. The throw hit his receiver right in the hands as he cruised for a touchdown. It shows just what Johnson can do on the gridiron and will be one to watch in the fall for the Tigers.
Johnson will lead a talented group of playmakers in 2025 for the Douglas County Tigers that consists of Auburn Commit (Devin Carter), Texas A&M commit (Aaron Gregory), Rah’Keith Kelly and Zamarcus Lindley. This Douglas County team is as talented as any and very well could be the missing piece for Douglas County to win a championship.
Utah currently has five players committed in the 2026 class, along with Johnson. Major Hinchen, LaGary Mithcell, Preston Pitts. And LaMarcus Bell. The good thing for the Utes is they got their quarterback of the future who can lead the team and step in and be a starter in a few years.
