Tim Sims has become a name to know in the Georgia. Sims is now listed as a 3-star athlete according to 247 Sports. Sims plays both receiver and defensive back.
Sims recorded 89 total tackles, 32 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, an interception, and 396 all purpose yards last season with the Wildcats on the way to a playoff appearance. Sims is being recruited primarily as a defensive back and holds 20 offers from all around the country.
He announced his top five schools recently — Memphis, Purdue, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and Rice.
Memphis has always looked to Georgia for high-end talent. Memphis is looking to add Sims to that list.
Memphis seems to view Sims as a high priority target.
“The coaches talk to me all day, from head coach Ryan Silverfield to defensive coordinator Jordon Hankins,” Sims told Score Atlanta’s Wesley Powell.
He will make the trip to Tennessee next weekend.
Purdue is also hot on Sims’ tail as they look to score a big commitment to add to their top 50 class nationally (247/Sports).
Sims stated that from the coaching staff to the culture, “everything just gels together” with Purdue.
He also made it known that he views the Big Ten as the best conference in the country.
He visited the Boilermakers last weekend
Georgia Tech was one of the first five schools to offer Sims back in May of 2024. Since then, the Yellow jackets have become a hot team for Sims. Sims specifically cited his relationship with Georgia Tech defensive backs coach Corey Peoples as one of the reasons he likes Tech.
“Coach Peoples is my dawg! I played with his son so he knows me very well.” Sims added.
Sims will visit Georgia Tech this weekend.
Next on Sims’ list is the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs recently offered Sims back in March and have shot up his board.
Sims regards the Bulldogs highly due to defensive coordinator Matt Barnes’ history of producing stars as well as them being in the SEC.
Also, he is originally from Mississippi.
Finally, Rice looks to score a commitment. Rice comes in with a disadvantage of being the smallest school in the mix. However, Sims still likes the idea of becoming an Owl.
Sims believes he can get on the field early on and he thinks Rice’s play style suits him.
Rice will get the final pitch to Sims when he visits the weekend of June 21st.
Sims will announce his commitment on July 4th.
