MORE NOMINEES: Atlanta Tipoff Club announces local midseason teams for boys and girls

The Atlanta Tipoff today announced the Metro Atlanta boys and girls midseason teams, a leading barometer for the end-of-the-year awards. Georgia-bound Anne Marie Armstrong, the reigning Miss Georgia Basketball award winner, and Derrick Favors, a top candidate for the national Naismith Boys High School Player of the Year honor and a Georgia Tech commitment, headline the girls and boys respective teams.

The lists were compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club Board of Selectors, comprised of coaches in the Metro Atlanta area. The board based its criteria on player performances this season. Winners for Miss Georgia Basketball, Mr. Georgia Basketball, the Metro Atlanta Players of the Year and the Jackie Bradford all-Metro teams will be announced in early March and will be honored at the Naismith Awards banquet on March 23, 2009, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
