Week 4 Baseball Rankings

In Class AAAAAAA, No. 1 Parkview fell 6-4 to Venice (FL) on Tuesday, but remains nationally-ranked and is safe at 19-3. No. 2 Walton improved to 14-6-1 over the weekend with a (9-3, 14-5) sweep over Roswell. Greenbrier takes over No. 2 in Class AAAAAA and Harrison climbed from No. 6 to No. 3. Also, Richmond Hill replaced Alexander at No. 10. In Class AAAA, Eastside improved from No. 6 to No. 4 and West Laurens moved from No. 7 to No. 5.

The Buford Wolves remain at the top of Class AAAAA followed by Loganville who hasn’t allowed an opposing runner to score in five straight games. An impressive four-game stretch for the Riverwood Raiders earns them a bump up in the rankings, putting them ahead of Carrollton. The Trojans fall one spot in the rankings but have an opportunity with an upcoming game against eighth-ranked Harris County to claim a big win. McIntosh holds down the nine-spot following a pair of wins against Whitewater and a win against Dutchtown. The Chiefs sit just one spot ahead of Decatur, who burst into the top ten on the back of a slew of wins and will look to add another with an upcoming game against a fierce Wesleyan team.

The top-5 did not falter much in this week’s AAA poll as Jefferson is still flawless at the top. The Dragons moved past East Jackson 10-0 on Tuesday to remain perfect. Redan is second again this week and is coming off a 14-3 victory over Sandy Creek at home. No. 3 Westminster got a 7-3 road victory at Callaway on Saturday to move to 14-4. No. 4 Morgan County has reeled off eight wins since its 8-1 loss to Madison County on March 13. No. 6 Lovett, the defending state champs, slid out of the top five to be replaced by Pike County.

The Bremen Blue Devils defend their spot at the top of Class AA in part to a three-game stretch of 41 runs scored and only three given up. Rockmart soundly defeated Model 9-5, enough to put the Yellowjackets up at the two-spot with Jeff Davis sitting at third. Jeff Davis dropped a close game to eighth-ranked Toombs County, but bounced back to claim two wins over the Bulldogs as well as a 10-1 win over Bryan County. A pair of losses to Westminster puts Callaway down at the four-spot, but the Cavaliers now await a pair of games against Jordan who they soundly defeated 17-6 on Tuesday. Toombs County picked up a key win against Vidalia, beating the Indians 7-1 to remain in the top ten.

Tattnall Square still has just one loss on its season, keeping the Trojans at the top of Class A-Private. Savannah Country day moves up three spots as the Hornets ride an eleven-game win streak. S. Francis moves down one spot to make room for Strong Rock at the seven-spot. The Patriots will try to add as many wins as they can before next week’s game against Wesleyan, a must win if Strong Rock wants to inch their way up the rankings towards the end of the season.

Gordon Lee remains at the top of Class A-Public following a stellar 11-0 shutout against eighth-ranked Trion. The Trojans have scored 31 runs over three games and await a tough matchup against Rockmart. Commerce advances up from the nine-spot to the six-spot, taking Telfair County out of the top ten following three losses to Wheeler County, Wilcox County and seventh-ranked Irwin County. The Irwin County Indians move up to the seven-spot after some strong wins against ninth-ranked Charlton County and Telfair County.
