A new No. 1 graces the top of the Class AAAAAA poll in Archer (4-0). Norcross (5-2) slips to No. 1 after dropping 70-67 in overtime to an unranked Mays team trying to find consistency. No. 5 McEachern (1-1) picked up its first win of the season in an 80-62 beat down of rival Hillgrove. No. 8 Tucker (5-3) falls one spot after a hard fought 67-56 loss to AA No. 2 Wesleyan.

No. 4 Southwest DeKalb (5-0) goes from unranked to top five in AAAAA after a start that can’t be ignored. Early wins over Osborne (77-33), Mountain View (60-56) and 6A No. 5 McEachern (74-69) set up for an already impressive resume. Add in their latest victory over defending state champion No. 7 Stephenson (4-3) 60-52 and you have enough for a top five spot. Loganville (3-3) was ranked No. 1 two weeks ago, No. 5 last week and now unranked after falling to Gainesville (3-2), 46-44.

Another new face at No. 1 sees Griffin (6-0) take over for No. 2 Buford (3-1) in Class AAAA. Buford suffered a rare loss to Morgan County 53-46, who is red hot in AAA and will have their ranking revealed below. Veterans (4-2) drops from No. 3 all the way to No. 9 in the competitive 4A field after losing 45-44 to Warner Robins. No. 8 Gilmer (6-0) picked up a win over Northwest Whitfield (4-2), who falls out of the rankings, 42-39 and No. 10 Jonesboro (4-2) re-enters the poll after a 0-3 start for Mary Persons.

Talk about a shakeup. Morgan County (5-3) has hopped all over the rankings in both boys and girls, but their latest string of games has them leaping from unranked to No. 1 in AAA. The Lady Bulldogs were looking down the barrel of a five-game losing streak, dropping three straight including losses to AA No. 2 Wesleyan and two teams from Ohio. They returned home with a daunting schedule: At former No. 1 Laney (4-1) and home against former 4A No. 1 Buford. A potential 3-5 start turned into a 5-3 record as Morgan County upset both, beating Laney 78-69 and following up with a 53-46 win over Buford. Add those two wins to a resume of beating Miller Grove by 15 and Hillgrove by nine and its more than enough to warrant the No. 1 ranking.

No. 1 Holy Innocents’ (6-0) and No. 2 Wesleyan (6-0) remain neck-and-neck in AA. The Golden Bears picked up wins of 62-29 over No. 10 Darlington (5-3) and 59-33 against No. 8 GAC (3-3).

In 1A-Private, No. 2 Calvary Day (5-0) made a statement by drilling former No. 4 and current No. 9 ranked Savannah Christian Day (5-3) by the score of 57-31. No. 3 Tattnall Square Academy (4-0) jumps three spots after impressive wins over No. 5 Mt. Paran (2-1), 30-28 and No. 7 ELCA (2-2), 54-51.

Major movement occurs in 1A-Public with Taylor County (3-1) losing 47-46 to Greenville. The Vikings slip to No. 3 and Greenville (3-0) goes from unranked to No. 2. No. 7 Quitman County is also off to a hot start at 5-0. They defeated No. 6 Randolph-Clay (4-1), 54-50. No. 1 Turner County (3-0) holds onto the top spot in the topsy-turvy classification.
