Etowah wrestled the top spot of the rankings away from Peachtree Ridge in AAAAAA thanks to a strong showing at the Covered Bridge Invitational in Roswell. In AAAAA Woodland-Bartow replaces Pope as a ranked team thanks to three top 10 finishes at the Run at Rock Invitational in Cartersville.

Heritage-Catoosa and Carrollton make their 2013 debuts in the AAAA rankings. Blessed Trinity (AAA) competed well in the Covered Bridge race against bigger schools and the Titans flexed their depth with four runners placing in top 50.

Landmark Christian placed eighth in the Nike Panther Invitational in Fayetteville and assumes the lead position in Class A.

Last weekend, top girls teams gathered in two meets that showcased competitions that should go along way in preparing the best teams for region and state championship meets. The premier events were the Covered Bridge Run in Roswell and the Second Annual Nike Panther Invitational, hosted by Starr’s Mill in Fayetteville.

Etowah won the Covered Bridge Run and took over the top spot in girls’ Class AAAAAA. Kinsgley Green and Shelby Rensel took the top two spots for Etowah. In all, four runners for the Eagles placed in the top ten. Centennial placed second and was paced by a fourth place finish from Maddy Pederson.

Smaller schools Pace Academy (ranked No. 2 in A) and Blessed Trinity (No. 1 in AAA) represented and placed fifth and sixth respectively.

In the Fayetteville meet, top ranked Landmark Christian in Class A boasted a one-two finish by Kathryn Foreman and Nicole Fegans, but the depth of Starr’s Mill helped them earn the team win with three runners in the top 15 spots. Starr’s Mill retains the top spot in AAAAA. Lambert, Lakeside-Evans (No. 4 in AAAAA), McIntosh (No. 2 in AAAAA) and Hillgrove (No. 9 in AAAAAA) were the top five teams in the meet.
