Westminster ready for Dogwood Classic

This weekend, Westminster will host the Dogwood Girls Lacrosse Classic, an annual tournament that features some of the best teams from across the United States. Georgia programs scheduled to join the Class A-AAAAA No. 2 Wildcats are Class AAAAAA No. 4 Walton, No. 8 Kennesaw Mountain, Class A-AAAAA No. 6 Woodward Academy and Holy Innocents’. Westminster has won the event the last three years but could face some stiff competition from out-of-state foes Upper Arlington (Oh.), St. George’s (Tenn.) and GPS (Tenn.).

Allatoona received four goals from Ryan Tesler to slide past Pope 7-6 earlier this week. Gunnar Schafers scored the game-winning goal late in the fourth period to push the Bucs past the Greyhounds. … Duluth picked up its first-ever win over Norcross with a 14-4 decision Wednesday. Jordan Dandridge netted five goals in the Wildcats’ win. … Harrison received three goals from Luke Wittenberg to rocket past Hillgrove 13-4.

In girls action, Kell dominated River Ridge 22-1 thanks in large part to Emily Swift’s five goals. Katie Kunberger and Izzie Palermo each scored three goals in the victory for the Longhorns. … Grayson received eight goals from Austyn Gorski in a 20-2 victory over Parkview Tuesday. Brook Eberhart and Maddie LaCavera also got into the scoring action with three and four goals, respectively. … Mill Creek dominated Mountain View 22-8 Wednesday as Tori Windom scored six goals while Maddie Peek scored three herself and assisted on two others. … Peachtree Ridge and Collins Hill entered Wednesday’s intermission tied 6-6, but the Lions exploded for seven goals in the second half en route to a 13-7 victory. Kayla Jones was all over the field for Peachtree Ridge, scoring three goals and racking up five assists. … Marist outlasted Wesleyan 22-14 as Courtney O’Leary had nine goals.
