Where will 5-star Caleb Wilson land Thursday?

Holy Innocents’ Caleb Wilson announced last week he had narrowed his commitment list down to three schools that included The University of North Carolina, Ohio State, and Kentucky. Prior to slimming down his list, Tennessee and Central Florida were also among the finalists.

The superstar will make his final decisions between the programs on January 23rd. Wilson chose not to sign in the early signing window back in November and decided to take time to sort through his finalists a little bit more before making the potentially life-changing decision.

According to 247Sports Composite ratings, Wilson is a 5-star prospect, the No. 1 player in Georgia, the No. 3 power forward, and the No. 5 player in the country. 247Sports currently has a crystal ball for Wilson to land with the North Carolina Tar Heels. There is a lot of buzz that Wilson will sign with the Tar Heels with fans around the country reacting to the latest predictions. National basketball recruiting analyst Travis Branham logged an expert prediction for Wilson to land with North Carolina. The biggest question moving forward is can Kentucky and Ohio State regain momentum in the coming days with a decision looming. It is never final until the pen hits the paper.

Kentucky seems like it would be a great fit for Wilson with the dynamic backcourt they have coming in with Jasper Johnson and Acaiden Lewis both high-end prospects. Wilson also has hinted and flirted at joining the backcourt duo on X. Ohio State has two top 100 recruits in A’mare Bynum and Dorian Jones. We will find out soon enough in one of the most anticipated signings left in the peach state.

Wilson is coming off another spectacular performance where he finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and eight blocks in a 57-39 win over Kipp Atlanta. Wilson hit another milestone bringing down his 1,000th career rebound. Wilson is also currently on the Naismith Player of the Year watch list which is awarded to the best player in the country.

Wilson was also a standout at a marquee basketball event called the HoopHall Classic. In the game vs St. Joseph’s (CA), Wilson finished with 21 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.

Wilson is one of those rare players that can affect the game without scoring. On defense, he is an elite prospect capable of guarding one through five and also putting a lid on the rim with high intensity and defensive pressure. Over the holidays, he posted a 20-point, 20-rebound effort to go along with seven assists and six blocks in a victory against Hot Springs.

He is a possible top draft pick if he can live up to his potential throughout his college career while maturing into his game. Complimenting his defensive prowess, he is an offensive power. He can score with either hand and can stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting. He is a potent three-level scorer who can score on anybody whether they are bigger or smaller. Wilson is also an underrated passer who is always looking to make the right play. He is one of those rare players who doesn’t need to score to leave his imprint on the game.
