Cats beat Angoras, host solid Cedar Grove squad Friday

The football team continued to assert itself as one of the favorites to win a state championship in Class 3A. The Wildcats dominated DeKalb County foe Clarkston, 51-6. James Teterss team took control immediately and the outcome was never in doubt. They face an intriguing matchup against Cedar Grove this week; the Saints are 3-1 and have also been impressive so far this year. The game will be played Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Avondale Stadium. Softball rolled in a 16-0 win over Clarkston. The team takes on Towers on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The volleyball team scored an important win in region play against Druid Hills, beating them in three games. The team returns to play at Riverwood on Thursday at 7 p.m. The cross country team was out of action this week, but both teams enjoyed recognition in the Week 4 Gatfxc.com rankings after strong starts to the season. The boys were ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, and the girls team checked in at No. 10.
