Milton, Northview win at Fulton championships

The Milton boys and Northview girls won the Fulton County Public Schools Championships Saturday in Alpharetta. Lindsay Billings won the girls race in a time of 18:43.42 ahead of Elizabeth Graves, a Riverwood sophomore, who had a time of 20.27.61. Miltons Amy Ruiz, Northview freshman Sarika Temme-Bapat and teammate Anna Barefield rounded out the top five in the girls race. Milton took second in the team standings with 66 points behind Northviews 28. Centennial, Johns Creek and Roswell rounded out the top five.

In the boys race, Milton had the top three individual finishers with Jack Bluth (17:36.79), Connor Cole (17:43.80) and freshman Sam Bowers (17:47.85). Miltons Preston Meade took fifth with a time of 17:59, just behind fourth-place finisher Brandon Tardif (17:51.41).

The Brookwood boys and Mill Creek girls each won their respective races in the Gwinnett County Championships on Saturday in Conyers.

Hannah Petit of the Mill Creek girls won the individual race with a time of 19:01.59. Lauren Flynt of Brookwood (19:15.07), Sara Scales of Mill Creek (19:26.16), Yanely Gomez of Grayson (19:34.75) and Camryn Petit (19:35.03) of Mill Creek rounded out the top five.

Mill Creeks 71 points edged Brookwoods 76. Peachtree Ridge took third with 132 points, Collins Hill totaled 156 and North Gwinnett had 172 points.

Mountain Views Tyler Barber won the boys race in 16:13.56 ahead of Peachtree Ridges Isaac Penman (16:16.90). Brookwoods Chris OBrien (16:19.60), Mill Creeks Sam Costa (16:29.30) and Peachtree Ridges Nate Reichard (16:31.46) each finished in the top five as well.

Brookwoods 51 points beat out runner-up Peachtree Ridges 59, third-place Mill Creeks 80, Parkviews 131 and Graysons 203.

South Forsyth swept the Forsyth County championships Saturday in Cumming. The War Eagles also had individual champions in each race. Savannah Carnahan won the girls race with a time of 19:38.60 ahead of teammate Kaylee DuPont, a freshman, who turned in a time of 19:56.60. South Forsyth had two other finishers in the top five in Milicent Bergey (20:22.10) and Emma Maisel (21:44.40). Bonnie McKinnon of Forsyth Central took fourth in 21:01.50.

Ryan Peppenhorst won the boys race in 17:01.70 ahead of teammate Trevor Kane, who had a time of 17:03.50. Max Warner of Forsyth Central ran the 5K in 17:12.40 and fellow Bulldog Austin Campbell turned in a time of 17:13. South Forsyths Matt Patterson took fifth place in 17:17.70.

The War Eagles took 21 points in the boys race while host Forsyth Central took second with 36 points. West Forsyth was a distant third with 98 points and Lambert took fourth with 100 points. North Forsyth took the fifth and final spot with 138 points.

In the girls race, South Forsyth totaled an incredibly low score of 18, while runner-up Forsyth Central had 73 points. Lambert took third with 77, North Forsyth came in fourth with 92 and West Forsyth had 115 points.

St. Pius X in AAAA and Blessed Trinity in AAA are new No. 1s in the boys cross country rankings this week. In the girls rankings, South Forsyth, McIntosh, Wesleyan and Marist are now at the top of the rankings. See below for this weeks complete cross country rankings.
