On the prep beat: Holiday hoops still rolling

Holiday tournaments are still going strong, and a number of top Georgia teams are competing all over the state, region and country. Heres a look at some of the notable ones.On the boys side, Centennial will continue play Monday night in the GlaxoSmithKline Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. The Knights defeated Father Carr (of Toronto) on Sunday, 65-40, and will take on Knightdale (N.C.) tonight. Norcross is the only team taking part in the high-profile Bojangles Shootout in Charlotte, N.C., and will meet nationally ranked Bishop McNamara tonight in the first game of three. One of the holiday breaks most anticipated national showcase tournaments will be taking place at the Kennesaw State University Convocation Center on Jan. 2-3. Local teams South Atlanta (featuring prospects Derrick Favors and Andre Malone), McEachern (Trae Golden), and Fayette County (Noel Johnson) are featured, as well as top teams from Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and West Virginia.
Other top teams will be competing in tourneys over the next week: Milton (Kingdom of the Sun Ocala, Fla., Dec. 26-30), Miller Grove (Arbys Classic Bristol, Tenn., Dec. 29-31), and Wheeler (Beach Ball Classic Myrtle Beach, S.C., Dec. 29-31) are all in action.
