While Monday night may not have been a good night for Phil Jackson and the Lakers team, for Kobe Bryant, it was a huge night personally. Kobe scored 44 points in his team's 95-93 loss to Memphis and passed Jerry West as the leading scorerin Los Angeles Lakers history. Ron Artest scored 18 points but missed a potential game-winning three point attempt at the buzzer. With the loss, the Lakers willhead home after a 5-3 roadtrip.

Greater Atlanta Christian has gone outside of the state to find a new football coach and yesterday named Tim Cokely its new head man. Cokely won six Class A state titles in Florida at North Florida Christian. The new Spartans coach will inherit a team that went 4-7 and 1-9 the last two seasons. This isn't the first time Cokely has coached in Georgia though as he was Colquitt's head coach for three seasons. He led the Packers to a No.1 ranking and 5-0 start in 2006 but was fired in 2007. Cokley returned to Florida and won a state title in 2008.

Finally with a 73-62 win over Stetson last night, the Kennesaw State Owls have won five straight games and have moved to .500 in Atlantic Sun conference play. Markeith Cummings had 18 points to lead the Owls. KSU opened the game with an 8-0 run and added a 7-0 run late in the first half to take a 32-19 halftime lead. In the second half, the Owls never led by fewer than 8 in the second half.
