Debuting at No. 1 in the newly-formed Class 7A is Walton, which has claimed 10 state crowns in Georgias highest classification since 1998, including five of the past six. Powerhouses Harrison, Johns Creek and Alpharetta stayed put in Class AAAAAA and load up a talented top 10 led by Sequoyah.

Bufords 41-0 season in Class AAAA last year and the Wolves talented squad results in the top spot in Class AAAAA. Veterans and Decatur round out the top 3 and join the long list of teams looking for success against Buford.

In Class AAAA, Columbus and Blessed Trinity set up an intriguing potential matchup at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Columbus defeated defending champion Sequoyah in four sets for the Class AAAAA state title last season and Blessed Trinity topped Westminster 3-1 for the Class AAA crown last year.

Rivals Westminster, Lovett and Greater Atlanta Christian lead Class AAA and are joined by Savannah Arts and Pace Academy in the top 5. Class AA is wide open and lacking a top tier of well-established programs after seven of last teams top 10 find new classifications this season.

In Class A, three-time defending Class AA champion Holy Innocents tops the poll with Wesleyan, which also dropped down into this log jammed classification of contenders.
